Yesterday, 4/29/2020:
Last pix before throwing into flower. My first ever attempt at trying to clone was somewhat successful lol. The clone looks scraggly but it looks a lot better than what it used to. It’s has a little bit of color coming back to it. It was more of an experiment than anything. I cloned with honey. What took so long for it to root was that I didn’t scrape along the bottom sides of the stem from where I cut it. I only learned about that after the fact. Doesn’t matter anymore because I’m flowering out the clone too.

All LST training wires have been removed. I don’t think I’ll be using a trellis net this time either. So I’m only expecting moderate yields for these plants, whatever that may be.

I also went back to only having two lights on on 4/25/2020. All 3 lights on looked like too much light. Plants were not perky like they were previous to having all three on. If I had some supplemental co2 in the grow tent then I would imagine all 3 lights would have proven to be not too much.

4/30/2020: I’ll be doing very, heavy and controversial defoliation today on the first official day of light flip, once I get home from work. I will be doing another defoliation on day 23 of flower as well, once they stop stretching.

Controversial defoliation is complete. These plants look stripped and absolutely naked lol. I’m not worried about it, though. Most of you won’t like what I did but . I mean, come on, it’s bag seed. Plus, I did the same thing on my last grow and it proved to be worth it for me. Besides, these plants are kind of used to the defoliation at this point. They have bounced back pretty well each time. I know most wont comment, but are curious as to what kind of results I’m going to get. I’m pretty curious myself.
Like I said earlier in the thread, I wouldn’t try this on an autoflower, but only on a photo period with well established roots.

Speaking of which, I plan on running autoflowers on the next grow and using coco as the medium. I’ve never grown in coco before, besides the Kandy Kush clone I’m experimenting with now so I can get the basic principles down.

I forgot to mention that over the previous reservoir change (either on 4/24 or 4/25) I split the main stalk down the middle on the Kandy Kush. That was the main point I forgot to mention in the last post as to why I removed all of the training wires from both plants. The plant seems like it healed up somewhat from when that happened though. I’m going to leave the training wires that are holding the split stalk on for the remainder of the grow as it’s also adding some stability.
I find it kinda funny how the bigger Kandy Kush plant has been through all kinds of mishaps but the Chemmy Jones really has had it pretty much stress free the entire time .

Plants are doing ok. It’s been a week since I stripped the 2 dwc plants down. No white hairs on the 2 bubble buckets yet, but I did find a set of white hairs coming from the Kandy Kush clone in the coco pot. The clone is going to be a very small harvest but a necessary experiment for me to get the basics of feeding coco down. Very simple if I do say so myself.
I did a reservoir change 2 days after flipping the light schedule to 12/12 and did a ratio of 1/4 grow nutes to 3/4 flower nutes according to the Lotus nutes feeding schedule of 1st week of flower. I’ve had some fluctuations in ph in the bubble buckets since flipping to flower. The Chemmy Jones goes up in ph while the Kandy Kush goes down. Not sure what’s the deal with that. The amount of water the plants have been drinking have dramatically fallen, which is a given since I stripped the plants to bare bones. The stacking of the nodes is coming along very nicely though. I also clipped off a few of the smaller, thinner stems off of the Chemmy Jones that looked like they wouldn’t be able to get to see any kind of real light. On this next reservoir change on 5/9 or 5/10 I will do full strength flower ratio along with the booster nutes.

I also ordered a new line up of nutes by TPS that should arrive by 5/12. I ordered the One part nutes as well as the signal. I’m just very curious about this lineup as it is another very simple lineup that I will not need 15 bottles to mix up like AN. The one part nute is a water soluble liquid solution that’s used from veg to flower.
The Lotus nutes are doing ok, but I don’t like the salt build up that settles on the bottom of the dwc buckets. That’s why my EC counts get ridiculously high a few days after res change. And with me continually dropping the EC with each new reservoir change actually seems counterproductive as the plants look like they are not getting enough nutrients even though theoretically it should be helping but I know it’s because of the salt build up which basically means nutes that are not readily available for the plants which they need to be in dwc. I honestly believe this lineup is better suited to other mediums such as soil or coco than it is for dwc.
Anyway, I’ll keep trucking along with what I’ve got for now.

I decided to add in my old led light to get in some of the deep reds and infrared into the color spectrum In addition to my (3) 3500k LM301B Leds so that I could help initiate flowering. Reason being is that my DWC Kandy Kush still has not shown any female pistils like the clone in the coco pot already has.

5/12/2020:
I got the TPS nutes as expected, so I mixed up a fresh reservoir change for both plants just before lights out.

I mixed up silica first as usual, then added the TPS One, followed by a tiny amount of signal. EC measured @ 1.7 for both plant reservoirs. Then the ph was adjusted to about 5.8/5.9.
INSANELY simple nutes to mix up. I can tell already that I’m not going to use any other nutrient line up from here on out.
The TPS One is super, super clean. I’m not even sure it colored the water at all. The same goes with the Signal nutes as well. This is by far and wide the exact kind of dwc nutes I’ve been looking for for years. Let’s just hope it grows some good buds so I’m not blowing any smoke up anyones ass who reads this. Lol

5/13/2020:
Finally showing female pistils on the DWC Kandy Kush. I forgot to turn the oscillating fan back on yesterday night after reservoir change. Thank goodness I opened up the floor vent in the room to let in some ac because my old led puts out a fair amount of heat. It’s too early to tell yet, but these nutes already appear to be doing these plants good. In this one day they already look perkier and starting to fill their color back. I just fed the Kandy Kush clone from one of the bubble bucket reservoirs, so I’m excited to see what kind of response I get from her in coco.

Plants have grown a lot since switching to the TPS One. But as of 2 or 3 days ago I’m not sure if I had my lights too low or if I’m having a deficiency in cal/mag or iron. The new growth is yellowing pretty badly. I moved my lights up to 18” from the top of the canopy last night. Plants grew to about 12” from the light before adjusting the height. I also mixed up a fresh batch of nutes and added 2.5 ml/gal of my old botanicare cal/mag 2 days ago now. I’m not sure if either is helping yet. Should I batch up some more and add 5ml/gal of the cal/mag?
Anyone coming across this post have any tips for me?

Plants look much better today. I definitely had the lights way too close. It’s crazy, they’re growing about 2 inches a day for the past 2 days now. I figured they would have been through with the stretch but I’m sure I set the plants back a week or so from both the old nutes I switched from recently and having the lights too close. Oh well, this is just a practice run to get all the kinks out anyway.
I did get some of the pistils on the Chemmy Jones that started turning brown already. Not the best sign but hopefully I can turn that around in the coming weeks

I’ve been busy as hell at work but I still managed to take pictures pretty often. Just too tired and lazy to post . I have some down time today at work so I’ll be posting a lot of pictures of the progress made.

Still no density to the Chemmy Jones. Long, thin, airy looking buds . Frosty as hell though.
I’m thinking the small Kandy Kush in the coco pot is starting to finish up so I’ll be flushing soon with at least a two week flush.
