Howdy folks,

I'm currently on the hunt for strains high in CBD to help both myself and others around me and I thought I'd share that journey with you. I've already spent months in search of the illusive Harlequin but as I live in the UK and only have a few friends in the US, it's shown to be a lot trickier to track down than I first thought.
And so, I've decided to start working my way through a good number of seeds in search of that perfect medicinal strain to suit my needs and to start I've been lucky enough to receive two new strains from Dutch Passion called CBD Kush & ComPassion. These will both be grown for their flowers but also to create tinctures, edibles, hashish and oils.
I've dropped one seed of each to see what I'm working with, once I'm prepared I'll drop a few more.
The CBD Kush is already above ground, the ComPassion will just be another day or two, I'll upload a photo of her when she gets here :)

I hope you enjoy the show and please, if anyone knows where Harlequin is hiding, could you give me a nudge in the right direction to find her ;)

CBD Kush

A variety produced in cooperation with the CBD Crew. CBD Kush is a CBD rich variety with an approximate 1:1 ratio of THC:CBD. Tests have shown that CBD levels of up to 7% have been measured with a similar quantity of THC. This variety was produced by crossing a THC rich Kandy Kush selection with a CBD dominant strain. The variety has a mix of indica and sativa genetics but the growth pattern generally shows an indica dominant appearance with good yields and a satisfying flavour. Plants generally reach around 100cm tall.

This is a variety which will appeal to medical users looking for a CBD strain, but we also expect some recreational growers will be attracted to the strong body stone and the pleasurable and manageable high.

ComPassion

CBD ComPassion is a Sativa dominant CBD-rich variety made by crossing a Nepalese variety with an un-named sativa. This is Dutch Passion’s first independently bred CBD variety. We have measured 6% THC and 6% CBD in this variety, the lower THC levels mean this is a useful medical variety which can be used without some of the heavy effects of THC. This can be useful for those seeking a more laid-back experience which will allow them to function well throughout the day and still have the medical benefits without feeling too high. Cannabis produced from this variety (or oils/hash made from it) should have a roughly 1:1 ratio of THC:CBD.

Although the CBD varieties have been developed primarily with medical users in mind, we get surprisingly positive feedback from many recreational cannabis users. They report that cannabis from the CBD-rich varieties gives a strong body stone, with a less cerebral impact. The overall experience for many (though not all) recreational users is very good, somewhat different to traditional high-THC pot, but just as enjoyable.

Great to have you here dude.

No worries there, I'm working with feminised seeds so we shouldn't have a problem, flowers all the way ;)

Always a pleasure NB :)

They both sound promising dude. Wasn't aware there were any strains with a 1:1 ratio as yet. Definitely pulling up a chair for this one.

Good to have you here dude. Really looking forward to seeing what difference the 1:1 ratio makes, I'm expecting good things :)

Awesome to see you growing CBD dominant plants! Many breeders are going to be releasing CBD rich seeds in the near future. I live in northern Cali and TGA sub cools newer strain Pennywise has been testing at a 1:1 ratio or better. AC/DC is a clone only strain that is widely available hear that has repeatedly tested at 20:1 CBD to THC. That's right it is around 20% CBD and 1% or less THC!!!! Many breeders are using these cuts in new crosses. South Humboldt Seeds (Sohum) has been running a massive CBD grow test with many growers and many strains, and after a couple of years of compiling results they found that when you cross two parents that are 2:1 CBD:THC ratio or better then ALL resulting seeds will be 1:1 or higher with around 25% of them being 10:1 or better! Around 50% would be around the 2:1 mark of the parents. AC/DC is one of these offspring. Anyways all I'm really trying to say is that if possible track down some seeds from the northern Cali area for CBD rich seeds. Hope this helps

That's very interesting dude, thanks for sharing that. I'll have to do a little research and see what I can find. Being in the UK makes it a little tricky but I'm sure I'll find something eventually ;)

I have found one site that claims to have seed stock of all the top dogs (Harlequin, AC/DC, Sour Tsunami, Charlotte's Web) but I don't believe them lol.

I know a couple of med users in the Cali area so I'll have to see if they can help track something down.

Thanks again for that dude, gives me a lot to think about :)

Cheers dude, really good to hear about more people picking up these types of strains. I really have no idea what to expect from these girls but I do know I'm gonna have a lot of fun testing them :)

There is no seed stock for AC/DC. Sohum has a harlequin sour tsunami cross called harle-tsu. It is legit. On another note I am visiting my mom ( who lives in England) if you want I might be able to get something to you ( no promises) anyways just a thought. Happy to help

Now there's something I'd love to chat about. Drop me a PM if you get the chance. Always up for a trade, share the love :)

While I'm here I just thought I'd post a quick update.

Everything's coming along fine. The Kush is throwing out some chunky ass, indi leaves, while the ComPassion is sativa through and through. What do you think :)

Good luck! I too am researching CBD... so far I think my best bet is to go back to the midwest and search out some wild hemp. It grows in random spots all over farm land.

Howdy dude :)

Have you thought about growing auto-flowers?? It's still an untested theory but on another site I frequent it's high

Thanks for stopping by dude :)

Have you considered growing any auto-flowers?? On another site I frequent it's widely thought that many auto's are naturally high in CBD because of the rudi genes, and then on top of that, many auto's have then been bred for medicinal uses. If you'd like I can write you a list of some good ones to check out. For 70 days of your time it's not much to lose if you don't like them, but I can almost guarantee you will ;)

Hmmm. Something to consider. I have some lowryder beans stashed away... I am looking for 0-1% THC though.

Hmm, not sure I'd bother with a plain ole Lowryder, but some of the newer, well worked strains could certainly fit the bill, the only issue would be the THC content if you looking for something with next to zero in. I'll do a little digging and see what I can find. I have another friend on here who's deep in the CBD hunt so I'll see what he has to say as well :)
He's actually just sourced himself a pack of AC/DC x Good Medicine from Bodhi, considering what AC/DC is said to be, this could be a good one to look into yourself :)
