Know the potential risks; be content with any potential consequences.

Known risks: a dectable odor; foot traffic or proximity of people who might figure out you're growing; sharing with a blabbermouth friend that you're growing; any emergency calls for medical, fire or police to your home; sudden spike in your electric bill; etc. etc. etc.

Well it depends on a few factors of 'worth it'
I grew illegally for 23yrs.....got busted once. No jail time, spent a lot on a lawyer, carry a criminal record now!

So ask yourself 'whats there to lose'

I think I would also want to benchmark the extent of "illegal" in any particular state. My brother got popped for a grow in his basement and they bumped it to cultivation for trafficking. He wound up beating it but there was a period of time we weren't so sure he would. He was in Missouri. I'd recommend not growing there.

“is it worth it” is 100% subjective, brother. We dont know if you have kids, that would add and element to the situation, personally wouldnt make it worth it to me. Im in a legal state and have kids, i grow and use medicine that of which is a plant : ) I really feel for all the folks that grow in illegal states. But as mentioned above it’s really doable, and you can keep sh*t on the total down low as far as most of it (electric can spike) snow on un insulated roofs will melt lol. Don’t leave your new grow light box out in the front yard for the trash man to collect

Really depends on the state, some states are pretty draconian. I grew for a long time in Ca, at the time and place I grew your chances of getting busted were low, providing you weren’t blatant and didn’t cause anybody grief.(Humboldt County in the 70’s)

Never got busted in almost 2 decade's.

Dont sell on de streets, dont tell anyone who does not need to know, watch your odour and you should be fine i guess.

I have never seen someone just enjoying the hobby and get in trouble, its always the people who want more who get caught.

The rules are.
Don't tell, smell or sell.
The authorities usually after large grows. 2 or 3 plants is enough for personal use and shouldn't be taken too seriously.
A lad I know got caught with 400 plants.
Indoors in a barn. UK
5 years

I would base it on the specific state you are in.
Illegal can me take your weed ticket $99 plus court costs and then there is triggered penalties in some states that can start with as little as the 6 plant federal charges which are still the law in all states when pushed.
Also dividing your weed into smaller containers can draw a selling charge.

If you have become friends with a local at your new job in that different state perhaps they would like to take up cannabis growing and could use some help?

I kinda miss those days now there is no paranoia. Price of a self grown is like less than 10% per gram and if you smoke a lot... But downside is if you get cought your life is gonna change...
There are ways to minimise the risk like carbon filters a must and fridge drying to minimise the smell training yourselfe to allways close the door before you open the next one.. i went too deep

I allways wondered do you have to have contact with another state or do they still apply if you did it all localy?

Sounds like your dieing to start growing again so I would suggest doing it life is too short to not do the things you want. Just make sure to not tell anybody what your up to and you'll be fine.

We grew when it was illegal, we never had issues because folks that were our friends all grew also. We had a code to never tell or speak of our business to those who'd get us busted. But we also did'nt grow large scale just personal use. I'm in a legal state now.
