I have been battling fungus gnats for a while now and it's getting tiring.. I have heard that H2O2 will kill of all the gnats.. Is this true?? Thanks!

How? I mean, how would it kill them? I know it can be used as a mild antiseptic and oxidizer, but I'm not sure that it could safely be used in high enough concentrations to kill the gnats but not the plants.

I use a combination of things. Sticky traps (now I'm tacking them to the walls as well as hanging), Azatrol as a root drench, and if it gets bad again I have No Pest Strips on hand. Others will put pieces of potato on top of the soil, larvae are attracted to them and so makes manual removal much easier. All are temporary controls in my specific situation.

i would cut back on the water! try let the medium dry a bit between waterings, also give less water more frequently helps cause the medium drys and make a more uncomfortable environment for the gnat, i would also vaccume off the top layer of medium where they like to hang, and then apply benificial nematodes to the soil and cover with fresh soil. the nematodes will only effect the gnats and their larve! totally safe for humans! and only in the soil!!!!!
good luck

Are you sure you have gnats? They fly different, slower than root aphids in a winged stage. Do you have yellow sticky traps?? If so I'd like to see them.

Also, H2O2 will kill all the bad as well as the good bacteria in your root zone. If you are straight organic I'd consider that first.

This was my problem, I fixed it by watering less and adding 2ml of AzaMax per gallon to every feeding from the 2nd week of the plants life forward..Preventative maintenance from the start... Peace

The H2O2 will do the job but kill everything good and bad in your medium. Azamax works really good as a drench.

I find that mosquito dunks work quite well to eliminate and keep em at bay<<<

>>you can use em for soil to by grinding em up and sprinkling it on top of your medium
but for my 100 gallon reservoirs>>i chop up a dunk and put them into a panty hoe and dangle it in my reservoirs>>no fungus gnats<<

^ i second that. Dunks always work for me also. Plus they are cheap, found at almost all Lowes, HD, etc.

^^ I third that, dunks worked just fine for us when we did have the gnats.

Azamax and Azatrol are the same, except Azatrol is a little cheaper. Soil drenches and foliar sprays of the Azatrol every 3 days is what has kept my problems in flower under control. At first I didn't think it worked to be honest (Me<<<Newb), but then I saw what happens when you slack off and miss an application or two, and I saw what happens when you Never miss a dose! The $300 bucks my man spent on the Azatrol was worth it, imo.

Right on!

Bacillus Thuringiensis Israelensis

The active ingredient in the mosquito dunks is the ONLY thing that will kill a gnat infestation

it's been talked to death at some other sites ,and in the end - everyone that battles them agrees ..

There is 1 universal fix

Gnatrol is a liquid product that contains BTI

cant just be B T ,has to be BTI

overwatering is the leading cause of Gnats

Mosquito Dunks as GTDanny said or Gnatrol are the only cures ,all the other crap can and will harm/stunt growth of the plants , or you did not have that bad of a infestation in the first place ..

everyone has 2cents on it ,and you could chase your tail like I did for 6 months trying every dayum bottled thing on the market

Gognats << A joke that should be pulled from store shelves

everyone has a home remedy of some squirrel poop and dog pee in the bottle, then shake well for 5min ,add some SM90 from the grow shop and some dishsoap from your kitchen ,litte ajax from the bathroom and :fixed:

LOL

BTI <<<<< Dont forget the I in BTI :cool0044: and forget about Gnats ,cuz problem WILL be solved and plants will be healthy as could be IN ANY GROW SYSTEM

alot of states ya gotta mail order Gnatrol

any hardware store has mosquito dunks

i covered all my pots with a couple handfuls of perlite and havent had any problems. one 20 minute application

gnats love coco

sand might work or that shit (forget what its called) that is essentially crushed up shells

I think your talking about dismiscous earth (sorry about the spelling)....... it works but is nasty indoors. Once you have them, it's nearly impossible to TOTALLY get rid of them during the crop. You can reduce them greatly, but tough to eliminate them. The Dockter Death bombs work great in a larger area. Dunks, GoGnats, Gnotrol, yellow sticky traps all work to some degree. I fight them continuously until the end of the crop- then bomb the while area to be sure. Doing some pre-maintenance against them is the best way to stop them for ever establishing themselves. Preditory wasps or lady bugs also work well in a contained area.....

haha gator - I was like what the hell - how high is he right now?

gotta love them stoner moments

haha i woke up to a few bowls in the gravity bong before i posted that. good lookin, that would have not killed any gnats lol

I know this was a long time ago might be a dumb question if i use a dunk just throw it in the water can i put nutes in that water also

Not a dumb question bro...

Yup...nutes are fine. You can also use a seperate bucket...float the dunk...then scoop out some goodness....add it to the nutes.... and refill yer "dunk" bucket. Keep at it. It takes awhile but it will whap em.
