Hardening help

Hi. I’m Elma. I am in upstate NY. Just got some clones. They were started indoors and I am trying to acclimate them for outdoors( hardening). Anyhow will introduce them to gradual sunlight and know some things. I am unsure if I should put them under a light at night? Everything says 18 hours of light and 6 dark. They were in constant light and rooted already but not strong stem or leaves.

I just put mine under a big tree with a high canopy in the shade for a few days. No direct light but plenty of indirect light.

You should probably stake the plant to help handle the wind and rain. A good storm will flatten a weak new plant.

Really watch the water. It could dry out in a day in a small container on a hot windy day. If your use to watering inside the new schedule might throw you off if you don’t watch close.

Get ready to deal with bugs. Watch super close the first few weeks so a caterpillar or something doesn’t eat the whole plant. After the plant gets a little bigger they can handle the pest better and give you time to deal with them.

I also live in NY in the southern tier and growing outside is a bitch. Main problem is by the time the plants switch to flower, all we get is rain and cold temps and mold will destroy the plant. This spring has been just as bad and lost an auto flower to mold this year already.

Hardening off......reminds me of flushing......

To me, which isn't much, if a plant cannot go right outside, without babying it, I don't want it!!!!!!

I'm growing for me and the wife.....and if whoever needs any.......

So no....I do not baby plants.....survival of the fittest or something.....

Hey Elma! Sounds like you're doing great so far For now, yes, if you want to keep them in veg, try to give them around 18 hours of light total. You can supplement with a light in the evening if needed. They’ll get stronger once they adjust to the sun!

You don’t need any supplemental light this time of year! Just get them out into the sun! And make their final home as large a bag as you can afford to fill! Unless you’re going into the ground! Good luck! and if they are real small, consider up potting! Maybe post a picture of them!

Hey Elma are you confused yet? LOL These are some clones i made and some reg. seeds teens now. Started indoors now outdoors for good. Brought them out to a shaded area for a few days then left them in the sun and i mean direct sun for a 6hr day evening i put them under my patio. I took about 7 days to harden mine off and now there full time in sun. Mine were young enough not to go into flower prematurely but it can happen. Good luck

Thanks we aren’t super worried just trying to get them outside soon. The stems seem weak for a heavy rain and don’t want to burn them right away either. Weather here is one extreme to another so far
