Has Anyone Seen This Before?

Checked under microscope, no bugs visible. LED grow in coco. Flipped to flower 1 week ago after 5 week veg. Just noticed this today. The leaf in the lower right of pic is a different issue (I think cal/mag deficiency). But the two leaves in the middle...odd issue.

Doesn’t appear to have started from underneath.

This is freaky. It looks like sephoria until you zoom in and then it looks like something is chewing on them. The interveinal areas are heavily affected so that signals some sort of pH issue or possibly a def.

I remember what was either pepper or tomato plant I was hardening off having similar yellow spotting. I don't know exactly what it was but I treated it as if it was a fungus using a neem oil/ non-detergent soap solution. Plant health improved but its been years and I only saw it the once and didn't take any pics.

Could you please provide your LED spec? I saw this already and the problem was low quality LED, but this happens exactly in the same time from veg to flower and in coco... what i did was changed the LED to better one qnd spray them 5min before light off with a product that we have here on market Mocabi Nano and Mocabi SL, my plants recover in days...

They have shown signs of calcium and magnesium issues so maybe you’re right....can a def look like the leaf is chewed?

Could you please provide your LED spec? What % calcium and mag is in your nutes? I'd add calmag for sure. If your nutes are incompatible then you need to switch brands.

I don’t think it’s the nutes...nobody else seems to have this issue when running Mantis. It’s gotta be either my water or something I did, like having the light too dim maybe? I really think it’s my water might be too hard or something. Thats all that would be different unless I lucked out and found the only two strains that don’t take to Mantis well lol.

I added cal/mag to 3 of the plants. PUDC#1, the runt, and Lemon Grass. Going to compare results with PUDC#2 staying with mantis only, Fertigation every day or 2.

Mantis is overpriced snake oil that clearly doesn't work well. At 10x the price of nutes that work, your plants should be perfect. A $20 bottle of any other brand will solve your problem.

Mantis is overpriced snake oil that clearly doesn't work well. At 10x the price of nutes that work, your plants should be perfect. A $20 bottle of any other brand will solve your problem.

Yeah its supposed to work with tap water, and apparently works perfectly for some but obviously not for me. No need to PH was the biggest selling point for me since PH pens are expensive and need regular maintenance. Not to mention if my hygrometers all give different readings I can imagine a PH pen could tell me 6.2 when it’s actually 5.2 or 7.2 just seems nothing fucking works how it’s supposed to anymore. It’s all mass produced garbage with no quality control. That’s another reason Mantis, created by a guy with credentials in plant science including a PHD in plant virology sounded good. Not to mention, it seems everyone still has problems with the “tried an true” methods. So it seems like a craps shoot either way.

Hmm...well what exactly was bad about the cheap China LED? Because photons don’t care where their source was manufactured. Curious what is better about the light you switched to. Different spectrum? Coverage? Intensity?

Well, it was the spectrum and combination of red and blue leds, i bought 4 of them 300w no name, that i plan only to use with blue light so they have a switch between veg blue, flower red and both together full spectrum, actually i use good balanced LEDs but this time i run out of them and try the full spectrum mode and this cause the issue, so after i saw the problem i moved to good full spectrum leds and fix it, for the flowering room i use 14 x XYO 240w full spectrum, cloners tent XYO 2 x 240w 4000K, and have 4 x 300w no name, since i use them now only for veg, never again i have some issues in coco or hydro.

New LEDs on the way 8 x 650w Meijiu for 6 new tents and 2 of them will replace the no name leds.

Yeah I’m sure there are some crap quality products out there, just like with everything else...but the lights I use are up to tech with proper wavelengths and outputs. I think 10 years ago LED wasn’t the way to go but now they have caught up with the tech needs.

Yeah for sure LED + Coco = need extra cal/mag. Lol, one of those things I learned after the fact. But it’s also cool that we are learning how to set the correct parameters under LED being a new technology to utilize with growing. I think within 10 years...which is not as long as it seems...everyone will be using LED. They will eventually surpass everyhing else. And maybe 20 years will be preferred over the sun. All the programming and different ways to utilize certain wavelengths to produce higher cannabinoid and terpene content. Hell, there might be 2 switches...one for highest possible yield, and one that focuses only on terpene and cannabinoid concentration. Maybe some stress inducers at certain stages that boost trichome production. The sky’s the limit.

Just in case anyone in THE FUTURE is having this issue. After fertigating with some cal/mag yesterday it appears the strange chewed up stuff is healing and has not progressed. I do think it was related to nutrients...I hope. If it was, either the more frequent fertigation helped or the addition of cal/mag. I have one plant I’m leaving 100% Mantis and tap water. The others I will treat with cal/mag and compare progression rates and any new symptoms. I will also be fertigating every 2 days attempting to work up to every day by the end of next week. I’ll throw this in the journal.
