Thats because the rich control the country and they aren't gonna screw themselves so the middle pays the bills.

Insurance companies would not raise your bill because of greed,no it is because of Obamacare. They will screw you in a heartbeat. Blueshield in Ca. a few years back tried to raise their premiums 39% blaming Obama. I am embarrassed to say I am a republican. When they buried Hillary's healthcare plan in '93 they said they would come up with something better. Well i am slow but 20 years and not jackshit. As far as foreigners getting all the benefits that is crap unless there is children involved. I have pre-existing conditions and can not buy health insurance. The uninsured is hitting you guys with insurance hard, I would think you would want to get rid of this dead weight.
You need to see what we pay for insurance and what we get compared to other countries, it is ridiculous. They get away with it because of TV commentators talking shit and the dumbfuck public believes it. Third world counties have a much better health system then us. We believe we get the best care but that is not the case. People need to travel more. Most of us believe America is the America of the 50's and 60's,not so. We do not lead in anything unless it is in the most in prison,or infant mortality compared to wealth. Unless America wakes up they will be lead down the path of misery and despair by just a few lobbyist. The People outnumber the rich but do not vote. I can not understand that.
But there is hope, as Zapata said the fucking revolution is not over, or more like what Jim said 5 to 1 baby. My rant for the day. JK

As a Canuck .... I gotta say ...... Love the fact that I have government health care. I have been in and out of work for the last 5 years .... I can still go to the hospital ... any hospital, anytime.

So, these assertions that folks make (U.S. citizens) stating rather unequivocally that Canadians are coming to the U.S. in droves because they're tired of waiting for treatment are....? Untrue, perhaps?

There's blame all around. Just depends where you wanna start. It's easy to blame the Gov't/perpetuate the stereotype but it's far harder to take personal responsibility. Look around for proof.

The cabbages and tomatoes idea is a good one because we are slowly killing ourselves in america via DIET. Eating properly will go a long way to promote health and eating fast food and junk food will fuck you up over time. Would we need a comprehensive health care plan if we focused on diet and exercise upfront? What about active care vs. reactive care? We have the technology to isolate/discover diseases via testing, but we choose to wait to act until we see threatening symptoms or we allow conditions to exist....such as obesity....and instead of treating that....we wait to treat the heart attack or the stroke caused BY the obesity. I dunno...it all seems very backwards and "unhealthy" here.. jus' sayin.

I hear wild stories, about long wait times .... never experienced it.
I will say that the service is dropping ..... but it is no where near the catastrophic stories I hear.

Interesting tommyk,I was down in algodones mexico about a year ago and there were tons of canadians(and americans) going there for dental work? Also alot of folks go there for prescriptions as its SO much cheaper.Kinda crazy how drugs cost 5-10 times more in the US where they are made than in a foreign country where they are imported,I guess they price it to what the market will bear,Sad state of affairs.

neither prescriptions or dental work is covered in our health care. most of the time these needs are covered by supplemental insurance provide as a benefit by good employers. the better jobs offer to pay 50% of the premiums or the best ..... the whole premium.

Dentistry is not regulated the same way medicine is. If I were closer, I'd be hitting Mexico for dental work. What I do is go to Puerto Rico, where I have several family members who are dentists. Even if they charged me their full price, it would be a FRACTION of what dentists out here typically charge, IMO it's practically criminal. We just got an estimate recently for my youngest son to have some work done and they're estimating over $10,000 worth of work, as though his teeth are practically falling out! Gets me pretty hot to think that my filling is paying for that dentist's trip to Jamaica, and it took him all of two hours and maybe $150 worth of materials. And no, the equipment he uses is not that fancy.

What I hate about going to my uncle for my dental work is that when I tell him that I need more painkiller, he chides me, "Shut up! Stop talking! You have enough!" in Spanish.

I went through some serious dental/perio work after breaking off a tooth and starting a horrible process in motion....and even with >great< medical and dental coverage (I thought) I footed most of the 20K bill myself because the medical side said it was a dental issue and the dental side said it was a cosmetic issue. Dunno what your son's issue is, sea, but knowing what I know now I would have had someone hit me in tha face...and then it ALL would have been covered.

The entire health care issue is one of the big concerns we have about tossing the job factor aside and stepping fully into retirement. $$$ could be eaten up quickly if/when something happens...and fuck me...I know it certainly will considering the track record around here with the back/neck/knees/teeth/etc////.

Too bad....I didn't end up with any extended family worth a fuck on any front...much less dentists or docs.

I do everything I can to prevent getting sick. Diet and exercise are most important for me. Am really conscience of germs in public places. Luckily I have good teeth, haven't had a cavity since high school and only have to fork over the cost of having my teeth cleaned annually. I also get a physical every year and some how avoid getting sick. I don't trust our health care system.

I have One!...I was just at the ER yesterday with my wife ..
I will let her tell it ;)

I had to go the ER again today. They did a bunch of tests. Blood sugar was low so they brought me a sandwich and some apple juice. Did all the same x-rays and blood test, and added some new kind of blood test. Did another EKG. And did a urine sample. Everything came back fine except something that told them I'm not eating well. (duh) And.... Urine test came back positive for... Are you ready for it? COCAINE!!!

Now, anyone who knows me knows that ain't right. I've never in my life done cocaine. And I was telling the doctor and he was smirking like an idiot. I could tell he didn't believe me I wanted to smack that smirk right off his face. I kept telling him it was some kind of mistake, and he kept this smirk on his face as he walked out..

So the first thing we did when we left, was go to Walgeens and get a drug test for cocaine, went home and took it, and it was completely negative.

Now, I'm not going to let some idiot ER doctor label me a drug addict when I know I'm not. So I marched back down there and made them give me another test.
That test came back negative for cocaine just like I knew it would. They apologized, gave me a shot of Demerol and Ativan and sent me on my way. And told me to have my doctor to refer me to a neurologist.

:wacky:

Oooo...! I would have fucking CHEWED that doctor's ass, had it for breakfast. What an asshole. I'm so glad my parents gave me the tools to deal with them as they are--human beings, not gods.

I have done plenty of cocaine. And acid. Never really liked the cola much, but I loved the acid. Can't do a snort without getting a nosebleed, so I've stayed away from it for decades. Last time I dropped my youngest was 2yo, so it's been a couple of decades for that, too. I'm happy with mah weed.

My head is just now....27 months later...allowing me to resume a sustained physical routine. For far too long there it was a >rust in place< kinda gig. Couchlock like I hope none of you ever know. I tried multiple times to make things happen but my head always tossed it all aside. I definitely aged and took a hit from it all. Serious business, fo' sho. I don't do the doc thing more than I HAVE TO after the whole pill/puppet routine and spending YEARS in waiting rooms for the fuckers to shit out another bottle of pills but I recently went in for bloodwork and a physical for peace of mind because I honestly felt all of this depression and sadness might have sent me into >something deeper< physically. Funny how the head works....in many ways....both for you and against you. And here i always thought you had to TAKE drugs to be completely incapacitated. Nope.

I call it having the wind taken out of my sails. It's a period of absolutely NO motivation, no real sense to living or life, and I can't get the feeling that truly, NOTHING matters, nothing matters at all. And, despite being comfortable around docs, I avoid going, live with a great deal of pain just so I don't have to hear their shit, which I hand right back to them. But, when it's time to get help, it's time.
