Heal the body the mind follows. Eat those goodies I brought you, when you move get your garden going find local sources for real food and you will feel better. I was a mess physically, liver, kidney damage, now iam healthy once I plugged the jug and started eating right......Takes time to heal after all weve been through, but its so worth it.....

I was so fubar'ed after getting taken out on my harley it was rediculous, sometimes i still fall back into the darkness a little but getting out and doing things saved me,even as hard as it was with my knees, back head and neck the best medicine was just getting active again.I worked on my shop, walked the dog at least 2 miles every day, planted trees, just whatever i could find to do,now if i can just complete half the things i started ill be doing good, lol.
Post traumatic head disorder was what the neurologist called it,i just called it fucked up.No more pills for me,just gotta take your mind off things while while getting stuff done, the combination of exercise and forward progress helps to heal shit.
Sky that house you bought that needs so much work just may be your salvation, wish i was closer id bring my f450 and dump trailer and a bunch of tools and help you with that shitty roof you got stuck with, will work for weed lol.Seriously though it becomes so very easy to dwell on all the bad to the point that you sometimes forget about all the good surrounding you.

Oooo...! I would have fucking CHEWED that doctor's ass, had it for breakfast. What an asshole. I'm so glad my parents gave me the tools to deal with them as they are--human beings, not gods.

lol.....Wish you were there...lol..
My wife didn't want me to cause a scene. So I stayed out of it.
They were pretty cool when we went back(during the shift change)
and did apologize several times.
But it just goes to show ya!

So, these assertions that folks make (U.S. citizens) stating rather unequivocally that Canadians are coming to the U.S. in droves because they're tired of waiting for treatment are....? Untrue, perhaps?
My assertions about Canadian News Papers is they are lying about their own Health Care System according to some people here...

No progress in wait times for health care in Canada: report

Only bright note: Quebec did better than average for two procedures

(FYI... Is Radiation Treatment / Cataract Surgery in the U.S. considered Sub par to Canada?)
(Refer to highlighted and Italic underlined statements)

Despite pan-Canadian slippage in wait times, Quebec did better than average, earning top marks this year for two procedures. Quebec got an A+ for radiation treatment and an A for cataract surgery. It also earned a B for hip and knee joint replacement. There is no provincial data for heart surgery or diagnostic imaging such as CT scans and MRIs.

MONTREAL - Despite government attempts to reduce delays, wait times for access to care have stagnated or worsened, the Wait Time Alliance says in its eighth report card.

The annual report card, issued Tuesday, is a snapshot of how long Canadians wait for a broad range of medical procedures and services within the context of a $5.5-billion federal fund to reduce wait times, set up in 2004 and to be distributed until 2014.

Despite some improvements, the report says, national results show few signs of progress and significant variations remain among provinces and regions.

"Not only has there been no progress over the last year in wait times in any of the five priority areas, in many instances Canadians are waiting longer now than they were two years ago," said cardiologist Chris Simpson, chair of the watchdog group. "Progress has stalled."

The five areas identified as priorities by federal, provincial and territorial governments under the 2004 Health Accord are: diagnostic imaging, joint replacement, heart bypass, radiation oncology and cataract surgery.

The report assesses the length of time from when a patient sees a specialist to the time of treatment. But waits to see a physician or consulting specialist are not included. "Taken together, these can add up to very long waits," Simpson said.

But despite a drop in performance across Canada in meeting government-approved benchmarks for wait times, Quebec did better than average for the second year in a row, earning top marks this year for two procedures. Quebec got an A+ for radiation treatment and an A for cataract surgery. It also earned a B for hip and knee joint replacement.

There is no provincial data for time to heart surgery or national data for benchmarks on wait times for diagnostic imaging such as CT scans and MRIs.
As the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) recently reported, an increasing number of surgeries are being done in areas targeted by the accord, but wait times are failing to improve.

"It would appear that demand is rising at a rate that is outpacing the ability of health systems to keep up," CIHI reported.

Part of the problem, as cited in the 2011 alliance report, remains blocked hospital beds. These beds are often filled by patients waiting for home care, long-term-care, or rehabilitation services in other institutions.

A significant number of patients waiting in hospitals who would ideally be receiving care elsewhere, threatens to overwhelm the health-care system, the report said.

Whether cuts in hospital budgets will affect wait times and patient care is difficult to say, Simpson said.

For example, McGill University Health Centre has to cut $50 million to meet a provincial government-imposed deadline to balance its books by 2015, and eliminating some nursing jobs will be part of the cuts.

"My instinct is that quality of care doesn't suffer. But there is a concern that it will have an adverse impact. There's room for more efficiency and doing things better. But these (cuts) are not major drivers of wait times in Canada," he said.

Rather than throwing more money at the health system, provincial governments need to implement structural changes to overcome wait time stagnation, the report urges.

"Additional funding cannot be the sole solution," Simpson said. "It's a short-term fix and when the money disappears, the system reverts to its former state."

This year's report also highlights the impact of socio-economic status or social determinants — income, housing, education, gender — on access to health care. It's clear, Simpson said, that lower-income individuals have problems finding a physician and accessing care.

What's needed is a major overhaul, for example, reorganizing hospital funding based on the number of procedures performed. Some hospitals in Ontario and Alberta have already moved toward such activity-based funding.

"It's fair to say that there is some innovative stuff happening across the country," he said. "And I am hopeful we'll see that translated into real outcomes in the coming years."

But Canada remains a nation of "pilot projects," Simpson said. "The fact that we have 14 medical systems in Canada, one health care system for every province and territory ... leads us to miss a lot of opportunities for coordinating, standardizing, (and) we're forever reinventing the wheel on all sorts of innovative practices."

Created in 2004 to provide governments with advice from the physicians' perspective on medically acceptable wait-time benchmarks, the Wait Time Alliance includes the Canadian Medical Association and 13 other national organizations that represent experts such as radiation oncologists, emergency physicians, pediatric surgeons and cardiovascular specialists.

The alliance is calling for national wait-time benchmarks or targets for health services beyond the initial five areas agreed upon during the 2004 Accord.

ok ..my 'mercan friends lets cut though the agendas of the political press and talk about what is really happening ....

A) this is out of Quebec ...... they are kinda on there own and do their own thing ..... I know y'all think we are alllllll french speaking Quebecois here in the T Dot..... but the fact is that the rest of Canada really is always trying to included/get along with their annoying and acting out little brother .... Quebec. I can hear french and understand .... a little ..... but in the grander scheme of things, I speak better Italian. think about it like how you guys think "oh that's a Californian thing"

IE: "What's needed is a major overhaul, for example, reorganizing hospital funding based on the number of procedures performed. Some hospitals in Ontario and Alberta have already moved toward such activity-based funding."

After all .... Quebec is know as a "Distinct society" you know (I say that with disdain .....). I have lived in Montreal, I feel the freedom to have an opinion.

B)"My instinct is that quality of care doesn't suffer. But there is a concern that it will have an adverse impact. There's room for more efficiency and doing things better. But these (cuts) are not major drivers of wait times in Canada," he said." nice that you left that out ....

as all business are finding .... you need to work smarter with the money not HARDER.

But Canada remains a nation of "pilot projects," Simpson said. "The fact that we have 14 medical systems in Canada, one health care system for every province and territory ... leads us to miss a lot of opportunities for coordinating, standardizing, (and) we're forever reinventing the wheel on all sorts of innovative practices." ohhhhhhh that's right ........ we know and are working on that!!!

C) this article refers to EXTREEEEEEEMMMMMM medical conditions. not the ocational broken arm..... or bout of goutlikeIhadanneededmedicalattentionforbecauseithoughtiwasdieingandithurtreallllllybad.

just sayin .... the article is biased .... and now you know why.

GET GOVERNMENT CONTROLLED HEALTH CARE AND THINGS WILL BE GOOD

The huge difference between the countries, as you can well see, is that at least Canada/Canadians have the balls to give it a try and see where it goes before damning it.

Sorry .... I don't normally get on soap boxes. Just read thought it again ... I just wanted to be assertive and confidant ... Sorry for seeming so malevolent,

So, yeah. I'm not Canadian... The study was based on 10 provinces? ;)
BC., AB., SASK., MB., N.L., P.E.I., N.S., N.B., QC., ON. and conducted by these guys... Seemed pretty Legit to me.

WTA Chair in iPolitics webcast: Access to care - reducing wait times (June 20)
Mission statement: The WTA is concerned over delayed access to health care for Canadians. We work collaboratively with our stakeholders to inform, advocate, and provide solutions to achieve timely, appropriate and equitable access to high-quality health care.
Still waiting...

Where do we stand now on wait times for medical procedures in five priority areas, years after commitments were made by our governments?
The Wait Time Alliance reports on the progress to date in achieving benchmarks established in the 2004 First Ministers' 10-Year Plan to Strengthen Health Care.
The benchmarks cover:
  • cancer
  • cardiac care
  • diagnostic imaging
  • joint replacement
  • sight restoration
A need to expand

Looking beyond the 2004 First Ministers' health accord, the WTA has expanded its membership beyond the original 5 key areas and invited other specialty societies with established benchmarks or performance goals to join.
The specialty areas now include:
  • anesthesiology
  • emergency care
  • gastrointestinal
  • obstetrics and gynecology
  • psychiatry
  • plastic surgery
  • pediatric surgery
The Wait Time Alliance's recommendations encompass the need for governments to include other medical procedures in other specialty areas.

Seems like pretty straight forward things to look @ involving General Health Care and Catastrophic Injury such as car / motorcycle accidents / Sports Injury... Take your pick. Where in "Health Care" is anybody talking basic shit? I don't even go to the hospital for what some would call "Severe" injury let alone "Basic" care but hey , that's just me. I hate hospitals and would have to be on my Death Bed to go to one and if that is the case, then my time here is done... What do you want to do? Live Forever? ;)

I am just saying, these are my experiences.
You are saying, this is what these guys put on the internet ......
I'm not here to go back and forth with you... The people of Wait Time Alliance is A Canadian based organization that's sole purpose is to "Evaluate" the Canadian Health Care System on A regular basis from an unbiased point of view... Take it up with them if you have issues with their assessment of your system...

you are right ... this is not the correct arena for such a discussion. Apologies.

No Worries... Apology is Not necessary or called for. The way I see it "We" are all just along for the ride on the decisions our Governments are making... ;) Do you really think "They" care about "Your" health? It's all about the $$$$ & control...

The huge difference between the countries, as you can well see, is that at least Canada/Canadians have the balls to give it a try and see where it goes before damning it.
If this is a reference to obamacare and having the balls to try it it should be directed at congress and the president not american citizens, remember congress/the president damned it FIRST by opting themselves out of it before they would even pass it.Whatever it is we come up with we should ALL be in the same boat together. This crap of do as we say not as we do is rediculous.I am constantly amazed at people who think everything that comes out of this mans mouth is a revelation, its his second term and he hasnt done anything he said he would do,quite the opposite, were still fighting wars everywhere and very very soon he will probably be launching cruise missiles at syria and involving us in another war, hows that for hope and change?Sounds like another shit sandwich to me.

^^^:woot:^^^ The number of times Obama has opened his big mouth and ate crow cracks me up... Benghazi, Fast and Furious, I.R.S., A.P., N.S.A., Obama Care, Russia and Putin, Terrorism and bin Laden is Dead and Al qaeda is Decimated... gets A "Pass" every time... Chemical weapons is A "Red" line... A year ago o_O How long is it going to take this time for him to "Back A Promise" with Action... One more time, the words from "His" mouth and "Action" are 2 different stories... The Paper Tiger put "Himself" in A box on the World stage.... So is He going to "Say What He'll Do" or "Do What He Says"... Tune in Next Week, (It usually takes him A "Long" time to do anything ;) )

What he says doesn't matter to him, only getting reelected, will say and promise anything. Free college, free admission to the US, free food, free medical care on and on and on. Nothing gets done and we are going to have to raise the debt ceiling AGAIN. Going to go down in history as the most wasteful president in the countries history. Wish he had to pay for at least some of the debt he has caused.

Man, talk like that ^^^^ A year or two ago and Obama cronies would be throwing A Hissy Fit... Been there, Done That :woot: Where are They all these days...

Congress and the Pres have never had the same health care set up as you and I, fish. They have their own docs/game/etc. and always have.

Did you also know that Gov't and quasi-government employees aren't required to pay into Social Security and can divert those $$$ into other retirement type accounts? As a result, all Government employees have opted out of that program as well..including Congress, the Pres, all of your state reps and Senators....and all the folks who work through/in association with "Gov't. Even the folks who work for your local utility company (water/electric/etc) or any quasi-Government are not required to pay in to SS and can divert that 7% to other accounts separate from the gov't. This is nothing new....and certainly not a practice that can be blamed on the current Pres...though...yes...a bunch of folks will certainly and mistakenly try because HE is the cause of ALL our problems. Funny how things was cool til he showed up.. LOL.

ALL of em lie. "Read my lips....blah blah blah" "I did not have sex with that women" "Saadam has WMD's!" "Yes we Can"

It's a STALE shit sandwich. Wasn't made yesterday.... and it's not the only one that will be/has been served to us.

Keep in mind that this is a very liberal oriented forum. I consider myself independent but the facts are the facts, and when it comes to economics his advisors seem lost and don't seem to be able to balance the check book. However to be fair both sides seem to favor getting involved in Syria. Why us...aren't we broke? Oh, it's ok our children will pick up the tab.

Sky is right..."ALL OF THEM LIE".
