Hello, I want to start by saying that I love this site and thank you. I am in the Midwest just outside of Chiraq Illinois. (Chicago) I have grown indoors for the past few years. I’m currently on my fifth grow. I am still a total noob and not getting the results that I am looking for or even close to some of the results I have seen here, hats off to some of you guys.

After a long road, starting with a curtain under a staircase, I have ended up with one tent with two chambers 1x2 for seedlings/clones and a 2x2 for veg/mother. My flowering room I built out of 12mm white HPL (high pressure laminate) in a 3x4 space. Still work in progress but so far I’ve put in a Mitsubishi ERV and closed loop dehumidification. I will be sealing the room for the dream of running CO2 one day lol, way too much to dial in before I get there, but groundwork can be done now. Currently working on a lower chamber so I can temperature control the soil… so many ideas I find myself obsessing about my flowering room.

I am currently running the Supplex strain and really thankful for everything I have learned on this site. I hope someday that I have something to contribute to this community that has literally saved me years of trial and error. Thanks again, everyone.

Welcome to the farm! I'm also in the Chicago area, glad to see more of us here.

Sounds like you are going through the natural progression of building your perfect grow room. Each grow you will come up with more and more ideas. Constantly upgrading the grow after each successful harvest (hopefully they all are ).

I recently went from growing in three 2x2 tents with 8 plants each. By recent I mean prior to recreational legalization here. Then after a break from growing I decided to start it up again and go the legal route by getting a medical card and growing only 5 plants. Three tents no longer made sense, so I transitioned to using my entire closet.

Is that a housefly I see on your last pic? They just showed up in my house as well. Put out a ton of traps yesterday.

You don’t need co2 it has its own problems & speeds up any mess up

Sure I run autos & fems I used to grow regs however I don’t now I may go back to running a few see if some of the 80s-90s strains survived in reg forum as they haven’t with fems

With autos you need to hit the ground running any mistakes & your yeild suffers where as with fems any mistakes you can just veg a bit longer

I've been growing only photoperiod. Although to keep them short flowering was always triggered early so they grew much like autoflowers. Next grow I plan to veg for much longer so I will see the benefit of photoperiod with a larger yield.

Welcome. Hit me up for some free "impulse buy seeds I will never grow" before they are illegal. Currently, I understand, none of the "Hemp Bills" in the works keep seeds legal. MAGA sux my friends.

It is you just have to keep them clones/seedlings under 5 inches The 5" Pheno hunt is real lmfao I find myself cutting clones off 12" and only letting 3" out of the soil. Sooo dumb "you can have unlimited seedlings/clones under 5" tall" What the fuck am I going to do with five inches. Wait.....

Nope I think most people just use AI and it is still in the baby stage. Here is the Law.

(1) An Illinois resident 21 years of age or older who​

is a registered qualifying patient under the Compassionate Use of Medical Cannabis Program Act may cultivate cannabis plants, with a limit of 5 plants that are more than 5 inches tall, per household without a cultivation center or craft grower license. In this Section, "resident" means a person who has been domiciled in the State of Illinois for a period of 30 days before cultivation.​ Soo plants under 5" tall do not count as your 5 plant limit if you have your Medical card. Unless they changed it from 2020.

A legal 5 if you pay a private corporation and the State of Illinois for a Medical Permit otherwise if caught with up to 5 it's $100 fine the first time and jail/prison after that.

But yes if the seedlings are under 5 inches there is no limit.
I guess we need a strain that grows a 5 inch cola right out of germination.

Everyone should know this!

They do not have to arrest you if you are growing illegally! They can arrest your House and Property on the suspicion of "the house has committed" or "MIGHT" commit a crime in the future.
The Suspicion of is all it takes.

It's a shitty game law enforcement can play.
So they arrest your property and everything on the property (including your car if parked on property) and give you 30 minutes to get your personal items they approve of you taking and never come back.

Just like if you owe property taxes and get behind. They sell your house and keep ALL of the money. Maybe you owe $5000 in taxes and they sell the house for $200,000 well you do not get the difference in Illinois. They keep all of it.

Yeah, cloning is basically no longer feasible unless you setup a perpetual cycle split into 3 to 5 stages. Who wants to be stuck with 1 strain in a perpetual cycle though? If you were to try and grow 5 plants and take a clone of each, those clones would definitely grow larger than 5" by the time their mothers finish to harvest.

Edit: another gray area would be the hang dry. Do those still count as plants? So you may need to keep next round of plants under 5" until you finish the hang and trim them to smaller nugs.

dream of running CO2 one day

Hey I bought a tall boy aluminum tank, regulator and "misting" line when I first moved here.
I will never use them.
I would have to drive to St. Louis to fill the damn thing because out here there is no fill station for Co2 at all. Simply not worth the hassle. .
I since went with C02 burner and burn in the winter.

So make offer and you pick up.
I will never use them and they are brand new.
I just checked and for a brand new 50 pounder it's over $400. Reg about $100 and drip mister is like $40
Tell you what. $300 for the tank, regulator and the misting line.
