Hi Guys

I live in canada and have never dry sifted b4. I want to walk into my fabric shop and ask for silk in a certain size.

What do i ask for and what size do i need.

I realise these are very general questions, just tell me what to ask for and i'll go get it.

many thanks in advance

you may find it in a fabric store, but a better place would be arts and crafts stores, or a local print shop ( local print shop may be curious ) I order online from ryan screen supply, you can get a small screen, pre meshed with the screen of your pref, for under 30 bucks. 60/61 mesh works good for us for dry sift.

http:// estore.ryanrss.com /index.asp?PageAction =VIEWPROD&ProdID=1499

take out the spaces and copy and paste. they have a chart helps explain the different meshes also

I use a silk screen for t-shirt printing - it's a 43T size if that helps.

I just came here for the same reason. I thought I could order some using the same numbers on the bubble bags. I called my local silkscreen shop and their numbers refer to threads per square inch. I will look at the above link to see if they have a conversion chart.
I just made my last batch of water hash ever, took a day before I could stand up. I need to make my own tumbler. Suerte JK

I'm totally with you on the bubblehash backache - I don't think I'll ever do it again.

If you do get around to making your own tumbler, please post how here. I've no electrical skills and I'm trying to work out how to make my own low speed tumbler to keep a jar of tincture rolling (to save the twice daily shaking)....but that's for another thread :)

here, this should make it clear as mud. The less threads per square inch, the bigger the holes, the more material goes thru the holes. The more threads per square inch, the smaller the holes and higher the number of holes and finer material gets thru.

conversion chart here after you take the spaces out

personally I like wood frames better. aluminum frames are notorious for having a sharp edge somewhere on em where the mesh starts to tear along the frame..........just my experience 7 years printing.

Zoo here are a few links, I like the feel of wood.

This one is a bit farther away.

Look in the yellow pages under screen printing, I'll bet there's one less the a half hour ride. But once you play with this you will want a tumbler.

Stuff I have seen is measured in microns, 43, 80, 125 and 160 seem to ring a bell, I cannot remember if that is for Endecott sieves or silkscreens.

Dont be too paranoid about buying silkscreen equipment, you can always make yourself a homemade tshirt or two to justify your "new hobby"

I am also interested in making a DIY tumbler.... I think you need to gear down a motor with a couple of pulleys, have a look inside an old hifi turntable, it is not rocket science and perfect excuse for a A-Team/McGyver moment....

Endecott sieves sell a nice stack of sieves with a vibrator base, you could make your tumbler from quite basic gauze and do all the major sieving and grading with proper, designed for the job, equipemnt.

Warning, link contains hardcore sieveporn, I am not responsible for any subsequent wallet buggerization caused by lusting after this kit.....

motor

If you want to make a tumbler just use a bbq rotisserie motor. I have made a few of these.

microns is standard measurement for sieves and silkscreen. It is usually used when measuring thread diameter and HOLE SIZE....which is what you're looking for in this case

In order to convince folks you're makin t-shirts you may want a few extras to make it look convincing.....such as emulsion, ink, squeegee, in line dryer, etc...........:afroweed:

http://www.standardscreen.com/woodframes.aspx

check this place out. Choose your screen size.

Then choose your monofilament mesh size.

A 110, 140, and 200 will get you some nice nice melty with a gentle technique.

Some of the best prices/variety

I made a wood frame multiple screen dry sifting set many years ago. I used Rob Clarke's Book HASHISH! to figure out the screen sizes I wanted.

Pretty sure I left this setup to Grassman before I left Spain.
