This is the first step in getting this bill through the slow and inefficient process of representative democracy. This would allow patients in certain states to medicate without interference by the feds and a state could go one step further and fully legalize this plant. We need 2500 more signatures to reach 25000 and get a hearing. Almost there!

Here is an article about the recent federal crackdown on medical marijuana.

This excerpt caught my eye and is the point I've tried to make many times.

"Cole's memo reinforced a memo sent in 2009 by his predecessor, David Ogden, that prosecutors should not focus investigative resources on patients and caregivers complying with state medical marijuana laws. But Cole noted that since the 2009 memo, several states considered or enacted laws authorizing multiple large-scale, privately operated industrial marijuana cultivation centers, in violation of federal drug law.

This is exactly what CO did with HB1284 and exactly why the heat is ON. The memo didn't give an OK for the States to set up commercial ops and put a buncha folks in jeopardy. Not at all. Yet......folks (and the STATE) took the memo to read "ANYTHING GOES" in Colorado.

NOT.
