Hello guys, I’m new to the forum and have just completed my first grow and need some advice from those more experienced than myself. My first grow ended around a week ago. I put my plants into darkness for about 48 hours and then hanged them to dry in my grow tent. The conditions were around 50-53% humidity and 68-70 degrees throughout the drying process. It seemed like after about 5 days that most of the Buds felt dry and a lot of stems were snapping so I removed the Buds and trimmed everything up. Then, I put my bud into mason jars. Putting roughly an ounce into each of 4 jars. I had bought the 62% humidity bovada packs for 1/2 ounce amount. So I put one pack about halfway up the jar and the other on top of my Buds with my hygrometer. They’ve been in jars for a day now, and here’s where things get tricky. My hygrometer says that my jars are all between 55-58% humidity. The buds are wanting to stick together in the jars unless I give them a really good shaking to break them up or stick my hand in there. My question is, should I be burping them daily or twice daily even though humidity isn’t where it should be? Or should I wait to burp until I get to around 62%? And why is my bud sticking together but yet humidity in every jar is between 55-58%? I thought that would be effects if my jars had a much higher humidity. Will burping right now in a room with 50% humidity further lower the humidity in the jars? Jars smell very gassy and strong right now. I have burped each jar once for about 5 minutes a piece so far. I just want to make sure I don’t mess things up after making it this far. Just need to know how to handle it from here on out based on your all’s experience. Thanks for the help!

Remove the bovida packs immediately.
When storing properly dried bud in mason jars there is no need for humidity packs. They just cause problems.
Sounds like you did everything rite.
If the buds are sufficiently dried you should burp ever day or other day for the first 2 weeks paying attention to smell and humidity. After the first 2 weeks once a week for a month or 2 depends on the state of the curing process. There’s no exact science. It all depends on temp and humidity where you are storing your jars.

For my 57s and 58s I was told to leave them closed . I only managed like two burps before receiving this advice and reading about it on another forum also.

Can I just say .. They are bloody stinking compared to my 60s that I did burp lol. I waited two n a halve weeks before I couldn't hack it anymore and had to have a smell , so far had nothing but raving reviews, could only imagine a month as I think I'll have none left soon.

Mine never did reach above 59 so I just left them closed all the way.

You could always leave closed and tumble them around until they reach above 62 then burp if they do

But it goes with temps also, I'm at 15c pretty stuck there :p.

Still burp everyday or no?

So believe it or not around 45-50% in the jar after curing. I always keep mine at around 58% as once ya take it out it finishes up pretty quick in a zip lock or my stash jar for personal.

The thread with the info in it. Everyone has mixed opinions.. could always do two jars differently n see what the difference is

Did you leave Bovada packs in while not burping or just have the bud in jars?

Didn't even see this post, I didn't use packs at all, didn't see the need for them

Boveda packs work in a pinch if you need to rehydrate overdried buds, but they do sometimes seem to lower your terpene smell.
They are recommended for use with the C-Vault metal curing containers, but I have best results vacuum sealing dried buds and cutting open/air out bag every couple days. (Yes, I realize that curing in plastic is not recommended, but it seems to work well due to there being very little air being in there.)
