Actually it was 420 it appears I was active on both sites at the time it was over 10 years ago now lol memory's a little hazy but I've always stuck by the genefinder method and it has never let me down just put the whole room on 12/12 for 3 days it does no harm and easy than cloning and running a separate area for me at least. If you have a constantly flowering tent it's not an issue.

Putting plants into flower and reverting back opens up the risk of hermie plants by taking off the top and rooting that it saves any risks to your plant

I've never seen a hermie in 10 years doing this in fact I've never seen a hermie doing anything but I have no lights leaks I have the grow in a room with no windows. I also generally avoid femmed seeds but the clone I'm growing right now is femmed seed and was never "Genefinder'd" I made a compromise as I wanted a blue cheese cut and was offered one.

I guess everyone has there own method that best suits there own needs my own experience had left me thinking my way is best suited for me I suppose the best bet is to tailor it to your own needs

You can, but you're going to lose *all* that time by forcing the seedling to go into sexual reproduction mode, then back into vegging, then back into flowering. The whole process takes about 6 weeks IME when a girl has flipped back into veg when she should be flowering.

Putting them through light stress defo increases the risk of hermie just because u haven't experienced them doesn't mean the risk isn't there I guess it's a little like picking someone up from a bar and going bare back u could go through 100s but it will only take 1 to make u rethink your methods lol

my thoughts are leave the seedling also and take a nip off the top = 0 stress for the donor :) most people top there plants anyway

I was gonna ask about the bag trick too. Does anyone know if it works? Or at least worth a try.

stressing your plants do have a good side,by stressing them a little ,you can identify specefic traits, jmo of course,i make seeds and i want some thing that can take stress, heat ,bug, cold and hot temps, but it comes down to there envoriment,i truly believe that, without a great envoriment you could fuck up a great strain as well as a bad one

Ha ha ha great analogy but I do think a hermie is probably less severe than HIV lol. If I have a 1% chance of hermies which I've grown several hundred plants over the years which has been Genefinder'd without seeing one so I think that would be in the zone. Then I am willing to take the risk but I think nothing of writing a grow off 1/2 way through because I can do it better I grow differently to most people lol as my priorities are very different.

Since plants naturally hermie as well especially in an all female environment if I had no light leaks I would question if it was a natural hermie. Statistically it's pretty low but ~1 in 1000 female plants will change sex into a male in an all female area but this will change a lot depending on is it 1000 different phenos or 1000 clones of the same plant this figure is in my plant physiology text book as a generic ratio for c3 plants how exactly it would relate to cannabis unsure but cannabis is a c3 plant. It's quite a common problem for commercial growers of food crops depending on the crop although some growers will use clones to minimise this risk often tissue culture to minimise disease vectors being passed on.

Yes it's not the perfect method but it works for me though and I will continue to do it when I grow regs.

Bag trick works but unsure how it's any different really from just 12/12 the entire tent plant stress wise but when doing the bag trick only the branch in the dark develops hairs. I've never done it myself but seen it done a few times on overgrow way back when.

I did create the ultimate hermie lol when I was first growing through grafting a male onto a female but I was fucking about to see if I could get my head round grafting which turned out to be pretty simple. Plant was killed off pretty soon afterwards lol but would have been funny to give a mate to flower out ha ha ha and then watch them try to work it out.

I always wanted to graft a multi strain mum together so I could have 5 strains on the one plant but never got round to it and knowing how slack I am probably would have confused which part of the plant was what lol.
