Hey man, I'm the guy that said something.

First, HUGE props for actually owning things and moving on. You don't see that a lot anymore, and you seem like an alright guy to have actually learned from being called out. 99% of people would have said "well F you, I'll find another forum." and moved on.

I started my weed journey working for outdoor NorCal farmers.

We would dig 3 x 3 holes and fill the bottom 1/3 with some supersoil we had made a few months back and let cook in the sun. The rest of the hole was regular potting mix with a few amendments like worm castings, bone, blood and feather meal, bat guano, dolomite lime, etc.

As long as the plants have unobstructed sunshine they should be fine but be careful of planting too early where the lack of daylight hours will put your plants into flower earlier than you want.

Outdoor issues are going to usually be bug related so keep an eye on those girls and try and catch your issues early. As long as you catch it early usually a hard spray of water on the affected areas will keep them at bay. I like to use an electric leaf blower after I water down my plants to dry the leaves off to keep mold from becoming an issue.

Welcome! I'd be kicking the little rocks at my feet at the prospect of having to wait a year to do something. You've got plenty of time to get knowledge from the experience of others here but if there's a window of opportunity where you will have a couple months of weather that will cooperate and do a quick grow of some autoflowers so you get the knack of some basics like watering and feeding.

If you need seeds, visit the Eighth Brothers Farm website. They'll send you a pack of their farm seeds for free. They're just regular unfeminized seeds of stuff they grow on the farm, so they're bred for high yield and good potency.

I did the same. Keep an eye on your email. They emailed me and just asked if I would post on their insta or something. I said I don't do social networking but I'd do a grow thread on here for them, and they said awesome, seeds are in the mail.

Someone else posted in another thread what they got from them, and the only downside is its non-feminized.

I'll have to grow them out and then sex them when they start showing which gender they are.

I typically shut my grow down in May because I go on vacation for a week or two, and then I don't grow over the summer until Late august or September because no sense in paying to run lights and then paying for AC to cool the heat from running the lights. So I'll grow them out, take some clones off a female, reverse one or two of them and make some of my own fem seeds. Its not hard to do and it'll make starting the next grow if I chose to grow that variety again a lot easier.

I like to run my lights on at night as my GF likes the house cold before she goes to sleep so it helps in keeping temps within range.

Welcome to the farm. Outdoor grow is the way to go, if your first time. Autos can be finicky if you've never dealt with them.

Are u going to use pots, or going straight into the ground. Either way, research how to prep your soil/ amendments. It's all about the microbes. Feed the soil....not the plants.

Then there's your geographic location to think about. Will the strain u pick, work for your location.
Things like time to maturity, mold and bug resistants, type of bud development. Big dense buds don't seem to fair well in the northern climates, because of bud rot, due to humidity, and weather patterns/ fall rains.

Just don't over think things, it's pretty easy. As long as mother nature is in good spirits that year.

Do your homework....The test comes in the fall harvest. Keep a log on what u did throughout the season to highlight do's n dont's for next run.

Then there's drying and proper curing ....the most important to a successful grow.

Best of luck.
