I am running a hgl 600 rspec light, only few months old. I have it turned all the way up but my lux meter is telling me i am at 45k 30 inches away from the light. I thought this light would put out alot more intensity. I was hoping to get it up to 75k for flower. Do i have a bad light or just unreasonable expectations. Any help would be great appreciated.
Its a small tent 2x4x8 foot

Hgl is good. But if you have a meter reader thats more accurate than 30 inches. Use par reading

IMO 45k is a lot of light for that far away. Probly be lots but I have no experience with running LED's

Lux is a bad measure but can be used if it's all you have. Can you get a photo of the light on full hitting your plant?

You are probably around 800 umol depending on the color. You can convert it online to ppfd.

Nice. I have a 2x4 also and have the 320 in it, I didn't think the 600 would fit...hmmm. That is a lot of light though.

On 18/6 45k will be about the max you can run late veg. 40-65k in flower on 12/12.

They are getting lots of light lol.

Thanks man, if i were to dim it down what would you recommend. I am planning on flowering these pretty small. I am thinking about flipping them in 2 weeks.

Just raise the light dont necessarily dim it. Only need a bit of light to veg. You can veg with a t5 florescent so imagine how much a LED full spectrum puts off.

Lux metres aren't that accurate with led lights. 30k lux under my 550 is enough to cause bleaching in certain strains

Use height to get even spread and dimming to get the intensity... just how I do it.

It was that pics that made me think the light may too strong. Yeah lux doesn't read everything but 20 is double 10 and such so it gives you something to compare if everything gets fried at x then try 1/2x kinda thing... IMO l lux meter is comparable to the best ppfdppddtfq2 or whatever because if the lux doubles and the PPFD doubles.... woldnt it simply be a convertion? Like if lux only read visible light and PPFD reads alll the spectrums of light that the plants use and gives them ratios ect .... but the spectrum of your light wopnt change from minute to minute so for me functionally they are identical unless you travel around and read many different types light spectrums and not just the same one everytime.

I think that flowering with 75k is crazy way too much ... some pple do it but it think its overkill tell you the truth i flower with less than 30k and never had any signs of slow growth or low light ect

If you get 10'000 lux and ex 500 ppfd or whatever (not sure whatr real numbers are)
Move light 20'000 lux and ex 1000 ppfd ....... <--- why would anyone say lux is irrelevant? If you told me how many km it is it could be converted to miles right? Maybe I'm missing something but when I started out I was running like 25'000 for veg and had smaller plants that grew slower now I veg atr 8'000-10'000 and the tent fills up in less than 4 weeks with big plants... I was giving way too much light and the meter gives you a standard.
