High fellow growers,

So here in the Old Dominion aka Virginia, the humidity is always over 85% this week it averaged 91% humidity with temps peaking to 86 degrees. Will this affect my girls to the point where they won’t grow? I have lst’d them but they just stopped growing. Should I move them to the partial shade side of my Home? This is my first time growing outdoors, they look healthy but just dormant.

I'm in Zone 9 way south won't name names but we have gators and im in the 98% humidity and 98 degree heat as well. I put them in the shade at 2 pm to 5 pm. Totally outside in containers. Mine love a little afternoon shade.

Those are beautiful. I’m going to do exactly that and hope they can recover. They are even sweating a bit so I’m a little concerned

Thank you !!Also I water my whole plant with garden hose at about 4 pm, leaves and all, much like a daily bath. Leaving them time to dry before the sun goes down. Seems to help, they look rough afterwards but by morning they happy an perky again. Best of luck!

I would expect growth to be affected. VPD can be helpful when thinking about temperature and humidity as they relate to growth rate. Those numbers (86º & 90%) resolve to a VPD less than 0.5. For the vegetation stage, a VPD near 1.0 is best for growth. VPD can be thought of as describing the transpiration rate. The higher the VPD, the higher the transpiration rate. So, for a VPD as low as yours calculates to be, there would be little transpiration. Thus, not much water and nutrients are reaching the green part of the plant, and the growth rate slows.
