Switched from the nutrients that came with my grow box to Athena pro line the other day and noticed some white foam in the res yesterday. I was worried it first but there hasn’t been any new “foam” at all since initially noticed - and res still smells fine, what do you guys think?

Today’s readings:
PH 5.97 - half a ml of PH down applied to get OH to 5.81

2660 EC
1320 PPM

I’ll tag along if you don’t mind as I’m interested in the roots not being a dwc grower
I like to learn so I could reply
It’s the white specs on the roots that interest me
She looks good
Hope you don’t mind me tagging along

Ease up on the EC it looks like you have a reverse osmotic situation going on. When a DWC plant looks that well fed with the posture of an over watered plant it's struggling to pull against the gradient. If they were my plants they would still be around 1.6

The foam is probably just a wetting agent Athena adds to the nutes.

Looking great.i get foam somethimes (i use different nutes)no idea what it is but didnt do any harm.as long as nute water smells good nothing to worry.

Your ec should be one digit number soo the xxxx is probably wrong.as for ppm no idea what scale that is but feels like a lot for a tiny plant. But still no signs of burning soo your good.
How do the ppms change from day to day? Stable rising falling

Of course dude, please do!

I was worried about that too, first time grower but she does seem a little plump. I was going off the Athena pro mixing chart which shows an EC of 3.0 Theough veg so I was hoping my 2.6 was okay - but, this being my first time and all, not sure if I was reading the chart wrong?

If I wanted to lower my EC I’d just cut back on nutrients in the res mix right?

@amnesiahaze, EC has gone up about 50 points the last two days. Ppm has been pretty steady at around 1320

Also, do y’all think I should defoliate or trim at all? I figure the bottom fan leaves aren’t doing too much and are a little spotted, was wondering if I should trim them

Plants that age get around 400 ppm in my system. I took a flowering plant to 1200 once. Main thing your after is a constant reading of ppm. That tells you they are thrilled to be in your garden, actually it means they are eating and drinking at the same rate.

Companies make $ by selling nutes. Never feed their scale, feed as much as the plants eat

If your environment is on point
Dli
Vpd
Co2
Your plants will drink the company’s recommended dose no issues at all with great results,

Most people don’t have 100% controls of there involvement,

Therefore there plant doesn’t thrive to its full potential

Slower metabolism they eat less food more water ect
That’s why lower dosage works for the average

If you can control your room
Nd keep your plants in a thriving state
Thts when the company’s recommended fees dosnt feel like a waste of $

(I grow Dwc) I use advanced nutes at full strength comes out around 3.1 ec peak flower

I go about 2.5 in veg for mature plants

If all your environmental factors are in check your plants will look like there praying

I keep my room a solid 70/75f
Humidity to 58/62%
Water temps (roots) a solid 64f
Co2 - 1200ppm
Ppfd around 750-900

They to keep your dli and vpd a solid 1.0 or 1.1 ratio for your plants to thrive

Your plant looks good
Solid white roots
Solid colour

What light are you using?
Is it one attached to the bubbler?

One thing to remember in Dwc
Your roots are the most important thing
If not added any microbes
Look into some root expanders
The more roots you have the more they will drink the faster they will grow

I’ve got about 2 year’s experience with hydro still learning myself

Sorry if I don’t make sence

Thanks man! Lights are Samsung LM2818. Have an additional LED coming in I’ll be mounting on the side. Here’s how she looks today. Roots still look good I think.

I'm sorry your plant looks great how much water does that box hold

Looks great dude! Doing the same here; I’m going by the feed chart of the nutrients I’m using (Athena pro line)

Didn’t have time to test this AM as I was running a little late but I usually am around 2.5 to 2.6 EC, 1250-1300 ppms, and 5.8 PH, however now that I’m in veg I’m trying to let the PH ride closer to 6

There’s temp sensors in my unit andi it’s usually 77-78F in the grow box itself during light hours and 71F in the water chamber. Water is a hair higher than I’d like it to be, but haven’t had any issues with root rot (knock on wood). I have RO water bottle ice packs just incase the temp drifts too high
I'm sorry your plant looks great how much water does that box hold
Box holds 3 gallons however I make 2.5 gallon mixes so there’s an air gap between the root basket and water line

You going to need a bigger box dude and I Got 5 gallon buckets and I'm dumping 10 L in every other day Ifill it just as far as I can and let it run almost empty I use General Hydroponics sometimes I run autos I have a photo going right now but I found a feed chart from Hydroponicsgrow doctor I'll try to find it and post it but I found running Auto will have to cut back on my nutrients
