What can I add to a big pile of horse shit to speed up the shit to dirt process? And neutralize all of the piss. And prevent against mold and pests.

This is Subcool's Super soil recipe. I don't have all your answers when it comes to horse shitz ... but this will at least give you an idea. I'm sure others will chime in.

How do you make Subcool's super soil?
  1. 8 ten-pound bags of organic potting soil of the highest quality your budget will allow.
  2. Up to 50 pounds of earthworm castings.
  3. Approximately 5 pounds each of fish meal, bat guano, and blood meal.
  4. About 3 pounds of rock phosphate.
  5. 1 cup of dolomite lime.
  6. 3/4 cup of Epsom salts.
Afterwards it should be kept moist and cooked in the sun before use.

hehe... moist.
Also throw lots of actual earthworms in. I know that part. There's a patch in my yard where they go absolutely nuts after a storm.

you get you a big ol pile, and run a simple thermophellic pile. The inside will get super hot as the manure breaks down, but you must have like 4-5yards for that to happen. Real easy pee on it water it a lil bit and turn once or twice.

IMHO they are the best. You can call or hit them up on insta......
I'll help as best I can

Cover it with a tarp for six months, turn it over after three months, and you should be good to go.

actually it seems pretty well aged from when i last looked. I think we're good. Maybe just cut in a few bags of FFSS or vermont stuff.

thank you guys!

It depends on how fresh it is. I have easy access to sawdust but most any type of dry plant matter will work, shredded paper, dried shredded leaves, straw etc.

The issue with manure is salts and that is the reason they need to age and weather. When people say they are too hot, they are really saying it has too much salt. I think many think it is nitrogen but most horse manure is only about 1% or 2% N. To answer though you can speed it up by a regular flush and keeping it moist after under a tarp and also allow it to get good drainage.....

Here is an article because I like articles.

On compost I usually put either bag of Rabbit Feed or Dog Food on it to help break it down.

Put some kind soil on it. Dig a little bowl in it water repeat.

I use a Screen to sift it and get the bigger stuff out.

I use Rabbit and Chicken manure. Chicken is way hot but Rabbit not so.
