I have a question about my nutrient mixes. I don't have a lot of money to throw at my grows, and I have kept gallon water jugs and cleaned used milk jugs to mix and store my nutrients. I have plants at different growth stages, so I usually have several jugs. The problem I'm running into is that I'll mix a gallon of nutrients for a particular growth stage, them not use it all before I have to switch. A few have developed algae bloom. Is this harmful to my plants? What can I do to prevent it? I don't want to add any bleach and I'm not sure if hydrogen peroxide would help.

What @FelixMarvin said. Algae needs light to grow. If there's anything organic/biologically active in your nutrients, they have to be stored in the dark. This isn't typically a problem with synthetic nutes, although it can be if they get contaminated.

I make my own nutrients. Store them in jars in the fridge.
