Right…well I don’t have time these days to sift through what seeds are good and bad ha ha.

So I stick to what either I myself or someone else has already found to be awesome.

Because no matter how good the breeder is, there’s going to be differences in expression.

Oh cool.

I’m just constantly worried that I’m taking too much off ha ha. But the canopy looks great!

Looks great bud. I'm in my first grow right now and I kept looking at people's pictures and wondering why my plants never look like anybody else's. My plants are real short and stocky like that. And I don't have any recent pictures I need to take some more. I randomly just started with some alien OG and OG Kush, basically just picking off a screen. I didn't realize how short and bushy they were. Even my gorilla glue and white widow are short and stocky as well just not as much. Your plants look great though. I wish I would have seen that a month ago LOL. I swore I was doing something wrong. My alien OG looks a lot like what you have going. Looks great though. Keep up the good work.

How long is that been flowering? My first grow is just starting to flower and I'm trying to anticipate.

Im with both of you, nothing beats the consistency of good clones from a good pheno but you can find very stable genetics too in seeds. That said for a person doing SOG I wouldnt recommend seeds, no matter how good the bank is, not only is super expensive for a small plant but also its inevitable that some will eat more, some less and some will be more sensitive to light. For me, doing SCROG, seeds is the way to go. I have 2 small indoors, keeping a mother would only reduce my yield and my indoors are not big enough to do a proper SOG anyway. Its all a matter of circumstances I believe, what you like to do and what are you focusing on. If you only focus on production time and pushing good stuff asap you will want clones in hydro if you have the space and money for it, if youre gonna have 8 plants like me... that would turn into 4 if I keep a mother... not worth it.

Couldn't agree more. I'm in my first grow but it seems like it's smarter to just keep sticking with seeds. I cloned a couple just to learn but I don't really have the space to just have plants sitting in veg. It's fun to grab seeds turn and burn in my opinion.

Don’t compare to other people’s photos because your strain might fill out faster or slower than mine!

I have a fast gdp that is really filled out in week 4!

Not so, proper selection and breeding practices does lead to consistency. Look at a field of corn as an example.

Well…let me rephrase…

There’s only one breeder that I even know of that actually line breeds to the point of uniformity…like F7 I believe…and that’s DJ Short.

I guess I was more implying that odds are that most of the seeds you buy are going to be from less worked lines that were tested for intersex traits, mold resistance, yield, some kind of smell, and not uniformity among progeny

IMHO That is the definition of breeding. Anything else is just pollen slinging and us dummies pay the price like it wasn't basically effortless.
Don't mean to offend any one just a sore spot for me.

These seeds are from a breeder that claims to do thorough research and testing of all their genetics, and I’m sure they do, but what kind of tests?

I agree with you!

That’s the way I want a breeder looking at plants!

I’m going to keep my moms that are important to me in some way, but I also think it’s fun to pop some seeds that might express the mom, the dad, the grandmother, the great grandmother, etc. so in a way I’m thankful that breeders DONT all breed out these thing ha ha ha ha. It’s just annoying to have one plant that eats more or wants more light or is taller etc.

Good talk friend.

See how they all look different?

Same consistency in food, medium, environment, and veg time.

Crazy to me because I’ve never seen it like this before because I’ve only grown outside ha ha ha.

Oh!

I also keep getting told that I need to dial in a perfect light intensity, but I’ve been blasting them with way more light than is recommended, and they love it.

When I turn it down they stop pointing their leaves upward!

So that’s why it looks funny because I have a sp3000 and p2500 lights in a 2x4. 540w

Are they 1 watt diodes? I specifically chose 1 watt over the 3 everyone is using nowadays due to that intensity. My plants can be a little taller without losing anything.

Also I think genetics play a huge role here…

Some plants are gonna grow they way they grow no matter what you throw at them ha ha ha!

VPD is 1.4

It’s a SP3000…

Mars Hydro 300w and a Viparspectra P2500 240w.

I’m not saying that the buds are fluffy. I’m just saying that each plant seems to be stacked a little different or spaced a little different…

They’re all filling out, but different.

So I’m not sure how far along things should even be by day 34 of a 65-70 day strain, and want to know if I need to feed more or anything.

Just want to make sure that the bud development is normal for this time at around the halfway point.

Flowers are all full of white stigmas/pistils and making more all the time, resin production is okay, and all the plants minus that one are stacking up really well.

The last photo is of the plant doing shitty…

I think it’s either an airy pheno, longer pheno, or hates the 2 gallon pot ha ha ha.

Anyways. I’d like some input here on whether or not things are moving along as they should be because I’ve seen some stuff on here, and I’m telling myself it’s because they’re 8 week strains that by the start of week 5 they’re looking almost done and fat already!

I also feel like mentioning that a buddy of mine turned me on to a UVB fluorescent light that I have been running for two or three hours mid cycle since the last week of veg just to get closer to real sunlight as possible, and it really does seem to bring out the frost earlier, but I’m hoping it helps really pack it on later.

Finally wanted to say as well that I’m running 75% canna coco, 15% perlite, and 10% EWC with New Millennium Nutrients with Plagron Green Sensation and Silicium Bloom via the Secret Sauce Feed Schedule.

If that’s helpful…

ChatGPT says it could be light intensity that’s causing the buds to be so airy, but too much light….which is what I thought was true of the opposite? It’s like 1200 PPFD in the center and 700 around the edges or so.

Thanks guys for all the support and advice!

Everything looks good to me. Some strains/phenos have airy buds, some have the dense buds. Light can affect bud formation but I tend to see damage on leaves before on the flowers themselves. If heat is not part of the light intensity, I have seen pistels that will curl over the top of the calyxes to build a barrier against the light for protection. I don't see them saying from the light. So the one plant you are concerned with I would lean more towards genetics.
