this is a fact JACK... I was on the PG&E Care program that gives you a discount on your rates and only 2 tiers (8.5 cents per kwh and 11 cents per kwh) - last year I took a job doing the website for the local paper and didnt re-up my Care paperwork when it was time because I thought Id make too much money. Well the economy tanked, I got laid off.

Summer hit and I was running the ac for the house and a 2 light grow and my bills were 700 and 880 for the 2 months it took me to get back enrolled. Bill went back to the low 200's after that.

i would cap all electricty no more than 6000 at the most more like 5900w

bro you can run 12-13k and just pay your bill.. as long as the amps are there.. if someone is looking at your bill then more than likely they already have probable cause..

1000 per bedroom? why would you go through all the work of setting up a whole room for a single 1000 watt light?

Easy, Mr McStonerson :) in a 4 bedroom house, grow in 2 rooms with 2000w each. Better yet, use 600w and/or 400w and keep 'em closer to da ladies. Better coverage and 3 rooms are possible. The rule of thumb I've never known to fail was 1000w per room. The danger is IMO 95% of the time from loose lips.

wow you call me mr mcstonerson (lol good one btw) and you cant make up your mind if its 1 k per room or 2 k per room?

my point is to use a whole room for 1000 watts is a waste of time when you factor in the lost space, having to pull out carpet, put plastic on the walls and vent the room when you could easily have all your flowering in one room... 2k - 4k!

fuck 400's and 600's for flowering!

Id also like to point out that that wasnt even your post to defend!

I'm pretty sure that the 1000 watts per bedroom guideline is from Goerge Cervantes Grow bible or DVD's.

I guess it is goes differently in different areas...but I do believe that you can do 12k in a little house and get narked or flagged. I think it is possible for an extremely high bill to spark an investigation, or used towards obtaining a warrant. I can't see how a $1000 plus monthly bill won't stand out amongst the neighbours who are paying $100 and change.

I'd stay in the neighbourhood of 4-6 k including veg room.

lol dude we are so on the same page..

BUt wait.....dude the rooms 10x10 we can get a 1k watt in a parabolic reflector on a LIght mover...lol.........:icon_dizzy:

Do two 4K rooms if you wanna bust some pro shit! The 4K per room is in my opinion the entry level top of the line minimum and has potential for the best of results!

Or

Do 1800W (3-600's) per room x 4! This will get excellent results also.

The 1000's let you grow 6' plants, the 600's let you grow 4' plants. Depending on your strain, you may wanna go 1000 or 600's. If you wanna grow OG, go 1000W and super crop the heck out of your plants. If you wanna grow a faster strain go 600's!

I run 600's for OG, but do a lot of hands on to make this work. The 1000's will allow you to achieve great results with less plant tinkering!

Good luck!

You will need an A/C per room probably!
I would get the portable kind with closed venting!

PS: I know a little about the watt caps (CA only) and think that if you stay under 12,000 you will be fine! Once you go over 12K, you introduce a potential special circumstance within the neighborhood.

Go over 12K (residentially) and when there's a hot day you may find yourself responsible for blowing your entire neighborhoods main transformer like an associate of mine did! This is a terrible position to find yourself in and shut down his operation permanently. He is currently awaiting California's decision as the power company called the PD who promptly arrested him!

RJ I sure hope I didn't step on your toes; I was medicated and chuckling as I posted that. The 1k/room guideline is for the whole house. Count your bedrooms and add up 1k/room to get a total for the house. {A 4 bedroom house can easily run 4k of light without being too obvious}. You could put all 4k in one room if you want... and yes, originally I got that rule from Jorge Cervantes, and I've never seen anyone who followed it get investigated due to utility bills. One thing I'll be quick to tell you; I've been wrong before and I'll be wrong again, but I never quit learning. I've cultivated cannabis for a long time yet I'm always learning new stuff. I have mad respect for ya RJ. Peace.
