took pics one day and saw about 25-30% amber trichomes. the next day new images appear amber trichomes at 10-15%. do they disappear that quickly? took 5 images each day and all images show the same results. all images are random, i doubt i took the same bud from first day to second day so that could be the reason. the plant White Widow FAST by seedsman and is 10-15 days over according to seedsman estimates.

thank you for any input!

ps. i whited out because it dropped the file size down 30%.

Unless it's exactly the same location you viewed the day before, the ripeness of the trichomes (and amount of ambering trichs) will vary from one spot to the next. It looks like these photos are of different areas.

Tops of colas are usually more ripe, whichever side is facing the sun or light more directly will be more ripe, secondary buds that are lower down on plant will be less ripe, or even moving 1cm over may reveal different results. Just make sure you are comparing the exact same location.

I try to look at the most ripe, and least ripe areas, then take an average. Sometimes I even do a 2-phase harvest.

Don’t know and have never seen them just disappear. They degrade once they are amber. Turn brown and look dented then fall over. Doesn’t happen in a day as I have ever seen.

Those buds are leaving the prime harvest window in my opinion. As close to 100% cloudy is peak cannabanoids.

am i supposed to start a new thread or can i post other plants in this topic? Power Africa x MK Ultra FAST Feminised Seeds from seedsman. this plant is bigger and thicker buds than above image. it still has white pistols. it's had 6 spots of bud rot (botrytis) which i pulled off over the last week and found another today. time to harvest? 80 gal fabric pot.

Actually they look mostly cloudy with ambering too.

Make sure to look at the calyx not the bud leaves. The leaves trichomes usually turn first.

i think i got the calyx. a big power africa mx ultra FAST (seedsman says sept) and a small pot one. i haven't seen amber much at all in these but the trichomes look cloudy. for the last weeks the smell was strong but now not a strong smell from garden area. i wondering if amber sometimes never comes and i should harvest these?

I can see degrading amber trichomes in the pics.

But harvest time is also personal. I find it too sleepy and not as psychedelic but I see some wait for more amber.

I also have seen strains that really never amber and strains that the trichomes turn colors like red and purple.

I look at the whole plant for ripeness. The buds look , well , done when they are done.

i was going to harvest then i thought just one more day. these are images 24 hours later, i've taken the same bud tops each time just probably not the exact point. i'm sure this amber has come overnight. i've taken 8 branches and all have amber today and mostly all cloudy trichomes, i do see some clear too. when the images didn't show much amber the day before. most of the amber is in the tiny leaves, not the calyx but at least i see amber now. one image posted i think is the calxy and it does have some amber. thanks for the analysis!

i say YES, this is exactly what my bud rot (botrytis) looks like, exactly how it first started. i thought it was a dead leaf. a few days later i pulled the bud at the end of the dead leaf and the bud comes off like butter. also note in your image it appears the few dead leaves below the point you mention. that exactly how my bud rot looks. i read the internet and said it's worse than the plague and you have to act fast, it will destroy the entire plant and crop. i pulled the plant. then talking to the local grow shop the guy was like, so what, growing pot it will happen. he said he pulls that area and sprays h2o2 (proper dilution right on only that spot). that's what i did the next times it happened to me on other plants (all diff strains) and the bud rot stopped and didn't spread on that bud. i'm obviously a newbie, just telling you my experience. stores tell me about have good airflow... i live on the top of a hill (airflow), my plants have been greenhouse plastic roof covered 12' high since aug 22, never been wet, it hasn't rained, only 1 day of heavy dew then sun all day otherwise no dew, humidity very low... and most of the buds that got bud rot are tops of plant with best airflow. so i'm really wondering about that. i bought a cheap fan and now run 24 hours just in case. i have a test plant i sprayed with ORGANICIDE 3-1 to stop powdery mildew and it is the only thing i've used that works and PM was gone the next day. i called them and asked about botrytis and they said yes it should kill it because it's a mold/fungus too. it didn't stop botrytis but organicide 3-1 worked on everything else it seems. to stop PM i've used Monterey Bi Card, milk, Crop Control (trifecta), Greencure and none worked to erase the PM, maybe they retarded the spread, i have no means to tell. the Organicide leaves a residue.

i have 3 strains all seedsman bio says 6-7 weeks mid sept. they all are like 9-10 weeks. so i was worried they all went way past peak. it may also be my error, they all had signs of nutrient deficiency and i was giving them enough bloom, the local store guy told me to give one added tablespoon of grow with bloom which did stop the signs of deficiency. 3 weeks later another guy at the store told me not to give them grow it will only stretch them out. maybe the grow delayed flowering?
