When i would flush in dwc, i would do a bit of a root wash. One full bucket of water with air stone for a bit, then id pump that out of the buckets, and refill with plain RO water ph'd to about 5.8. Often itll come out of the filter where you want it if you use RO.

Ill replace the water every 12-24 hours. I only flush for like 5 days to a week in DWC< its all that necessary. They will uptake it more slowly then a nutrient solution. Really just at the rate of their own transpiration. You should be seeing the fade come in within 3-4 days of starting the process. Its my opinion that in DWC, more then a week is totally unnecessary.


Youve had some nute burn, ph lockout and deficiency issues through this run btw.

Everytime I try it says the file is too big. Every single file. Thought I figured out a way to get it to work.

Interesting... i read all the different lengths of time 3 days, 1 week, 2 weeks or 3 weeks. So I wasn't sure what to do. I tried different things But I'm not sure what i'm doing wrong. But they always come out smelling and tasting like chemicals. Very disappointing...

so I did experiment on my 1st grow.
I used general hydroponic flora trio for all 4 plants. feeding chart has you use florakleen and I did.

my 1st grow,
Runtz
-1 bud/ 3 day flush
-1/3 plant/2 week flush(48 hr florakleen after flush)

Banana purple punch
-1 bud/1 week flush
-whole plant/2 week flush(4 days florakleen after flush)

Colorado cookies
-whole plant/ 2 week flush

Gorilla Glue
-whole plant/ 2 hrs florakleen(B4 flush) 2 week flush

To see how a 2 week flush compares to a 3 day and a 1 week flush.
All tasted and smelled like chemicals. amd the 4 day florakleen completely runined banna purple punch
so grow 2 I switched it up nutrients
Banana kush- (Gen1:11)
blueberry cheese- (foop)
Maui- general hydroponic flora trio
Banana Cream pie-(advance nutrients OG organics)

And i tried different things on flush
Maui
-whole plant/ 28hrs florakleen(B4 flush) 2 week flush
Banana kush
-whole plant/ 2 week flush(no florakleen)
Blueberry cheese
-whole plant/ 2week flush(no florakleen)
Banana Cream pie
-whole plant/ no flush(didn't produce)

and still had chemical taste and smell. I'm trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong. It's very disappointing!

I haven't been able to get the ph to stabilize. So every 24hrs it drops or rises. And I'm rusty at figuring out what deficiency is what. I have the pictures and stuff just a learning curve. I appreciate any and all advice!

That particular plant. I was running foop. And the foop feeding chart has you using up to 30ml per gallon for veg or bloom a&b. And when I add anything over 12ml each the roots go brown and are covered in crap literally. So I was trying to push 10ml each on this one. And this is what she looks like.

The mobb boss I used foop as well but I didn't go over 8ml but one time to try 9ml and she didn't appreciate it so stayed at 8ml each and she flurished and is much much happier!

But the foop runs acidic or something because it destroys the roots in dwc. The reason I had sucess was the orca and the hydroguard or they would be horrible!

My 2nd grow I used foop. And i did try the amount it suggest which completely destroyed the roots bad! Then i did just water and got the roots to recover . Then did lower amount like 10ml and it was a battle of the roots and keeping them from going to crap. And she didn't come out good

The ph drops overnight. The plant I'm starting flush on right now is Durban Poison auto.

I run rdwc and would not flush but would reduce the level at which I feed.
For example at end of flower I would be running about 1.2-1.3 ec and then the last couple weeks i would reduce to .7-.8.

I can only assume that there may be more going on with water not going down and ph dropping.

It's been a issue with last 2 grows that the harvest looks great but smells and taste like chemicals.

She already hasn't been drinking. In last week only drank like 2 or 3 liters total.

Everything I've read about the cause of a chemical taste is a improper flush. 2 grows with a total of 8 plants that tasted like chemicals sucks!

I had a grower suggest that I need to flush a buckets worth of fluid per gallon I'm running to properly flush. But since she's not really drinking that's kinda hard. I'm running 3 gallons and thats 34.5 liters I got to get her to drink...

But this grow, it's too late. At least for Durban. I'll try this on the other 4 plants this grow. I just started ripen on the other 4 plants. So just in time to try it .

So i have a question, if I'm getting a chemical taste and smell and it has nothing to do with any kind of flush.

Then it's just because I'm not tapering off the nutrients the last few weeks?

Thats the only thing I can figure... I just follow feeding chart.

Just trying to get this figured out asap!!! I already mess up 8 plants total In last grows 2 grows.

I never flushed in my aero system during my hydro days. No chem taste at all. That was 15-20 years ago so couldn't give you solid numbers anymore. I used the Lucas Method at the time. It was about as no brainer as I had come across. Haven't dipped my roots into dwc yet so I'm curious to learn from you guys.

Oh wow never heard of the Lucas Method. I'll try it next grow. Thanks man!

Yeah I wanted to go stright into dwc. So when I finally get it down. I'm good. Instead of learning a different method then the one i'm going to be going with and getting good at it. Then switching it up again and having to start again.


But sill blows my mind, the whole chemical smell and taste. Amd people r doing no flush and no smell or taste of chemicals...

I grew decent plants and got a decent amount of bud but all have the damn chemical taste and smell. And during the last 2 grows, you couldn't smell the plant at all. Put your nose right on bud and chemical smell. I'm just frustrated. But I appreciate the new method to try! That's already known to not have that issue!
