Hopefully just a simple question about humidity. My 4x4 tent runs consistently from 21-26C and 30-36% RH. As far as I think, seems pretty bang on for temp range, low for vegetative but good for flower. Not considering clones as I know they require high humidity. Correct me if you think otherwise. So what I’m kinda asking is, is it that detrimental to have low side humidity on veg? I have a few aquarium pumps and I can put a bucket with a couple airstones in to try. Would I really benefit, something worth while? Appreciate any thoughts

Little low side, at veg state the leaves breathe more and require the slightly higher humidity to help in this function.. that said you are not far off, I’ve run em dry and seen little difference between 50-55% to low 30s. But they will need to be watered more often. Foliar feed and water , spritz with a spray bottle. And if u can increase the humidity it would be better but not detrimental

Here is a video which may help you understand why a higher temperature with low humidity is not ideal (In Veg)

Secondary homework:

I have about the same conditions in my grow area.....the "spritz with a spray bottle" is great advice IMPO...I spray mine lightly, like a medium-heavy dew, twice daily during 24 hr veg stage.....during flower stage I spray as needed, only if the leaves etc start to dry out while still green, and its best if you spray at the beginning of the light period...just like dew!....:>).......

One thing to keep in mind is the VPD chart. It will show you where the perfect range is and where you fall according to that range. That way you can adjust your nutrient feeding based on the rate they transpire. If conditions are dry that means they need more water and fewer nutrients. And vice versa. It’s a nice guide and handy to have for reference.

The Pulse One hygrometer has the VPD function built in so you’ll always know where you stand and can make adjustments accordingly.

Awesome, some good info there. Few calcs and it seems that I’m pretty solid in the yellow range. I’m not seeing much in the way of negative symptoms due to it, so far anyway, so it seems they are tolerating it. That chart is very handy. I will address and see what I can do. Thanks all

Also when you have a higher transpirational demand from low humidity you should run your nutrients solution with a lower ppm, because the plants are uptaking more.

bucket with a couple airstones in

The effectiveness ( of any contraption) would be measured by the volume of water it can evaporate, in a given time ?

Still leaves you weighing the benefit vs. PIA

I’m stupid, so please excuse my noobness. What’s PIA?

Pain in arse

Is the benefit worth the effort ?

Hahahaha, ok. I was thinking it was some sort of growing acronym. I have lots of aquarium stuff, will see what a bubbler does but I can’t see it doing much in a 4x4 tent space. Could also put a small heater in a bucket, set it to 80F?

Still, I dont see it consuming a half litre/pint a day.

From my similiar struggle , I believe ,if you are exchanging any amount of air from a dry source -'yer nearly beat from the get go .
None of my diy attempts burned more than 2 litre/day of water .

I kinda got bored with it .I run the kiddie humidifier now .Goes through around 2 a day .
Costs me ro water,,, And no one curls up and dies when I dont refill it.

I rarely cracked % 30 rh above 23C in Veg .
They did ok .

It is slightly self correcting in flower .
Bigger plant, more root, more canopy .
Bigger waterings, more transpiration .
Your plants may be spitting out 2L a day soon .
