Hello bud, if you want to revitalize hydrophobic soil, you’ll want to break that water-repelling barrier and get it to absorb moisture again. Start by watering slowly with a gentle trickle to give the soil time to soak it up. You can also use a surfactant like yucca extract or a bit of biodegradable dish soap mixed in water (just a drop or two in a gallon) to help break the surface tension. Another trick is to mix in some organic matter, like compost or worm castings, which helps improve water retention and soil structure over time. You could also try a wetting agent or soil conditioner designed for hydrophobic soil. Just remember to be patient – it might take a few rounds to fully rehydrate the soil.

well i watered them all 2 cups of water each look at what this moisture meter is reading after i gave them the water
im wondering if the thing even works u can see the water in the bottom of the drip trays

Hey buds.....I use peat/perlite.....used, with fresh mixed in......dry....always....

I mist the top layer with a sprayer.....let it set for a couple secs......then I use a solo cup and slowly pour half, burn one, then pour the other half......rinse and repeat till its done....

To be honest, it takes me a while, but I make it take that long......call it slow, I'll call it my super long break!!

this is what i use and below is the list of ingredient's

Ingredients​

• Sphagnum peat moss (60-70% by volume)
• Perlite
• Coir
• Gypsum
• Ground Limestone (for pH adjustment)
• Wetting agent
• Mycorrhizae

i got another bale of this stuff already mixed with my amendments outside in a tote just waiting for a transplant and i just dont want it to get like the same

Spray it, mix and repeat until it is lightly moistened then seal. It should feel like a feshly opened bag of potting soil. It will not only keep it from drying out but kick start any microbes that it may contain. I do this right in the pot and cover it. By the time my sprouts or clones are ready to transplant it is filled with mycelium. Alive and ready to rock!
