I am hoping to make gummie bears with my CBD cannabis strains. I have read some of the sticky threads but have some general questions.

1. Do I need one of these expensive presses to extract the oil from the buds?

2. Most CBD gummie recipes I see are just CBD, I want my THC to be in there as well. The Strain I am growing is like 7% THC 1:1 ratio CBD THC. I do NOT want to remove the THC effect with my gummies. If anyone has recipe links or maybe a YT video on this I would greatly appreciate it.

You need to start somewhere in removing the good stuff from the buds. There are lots of methods, one of which I'm assuming is the expensive press you reference. What are you calling expensive?

Unless you want to chop up entire buds and eat them, you will need a press for mechanical removal, or a solvent based removal like alcohols or butane or some other exotics. Or ice water for bubble hash I guess. You could also really cheap out and dry the buds then use a screen with a tray to collect trichomes that fall off and use the trichomes directly in your recipe once you have decarbed.

Probably the cheapest way is to make RSO with ethanol, aka Everclear. If you don't need to recover the alcohol you just need kitchen tools.

Most people infuse with coconut oil to make gummies.

I believe to decarb both THC and CBD you cook at THC temps, but add 50%- 100% to the time. So normal ThC is 250 for 30 mins, so up it to 45- 60mins. Still not going to get full CBD% though.

So if I want to get the oil with THC and CBD in it cook it? But if I only want the CBD I do what the other guy mentioned with using alcohol to extract it correct?

No man all you are doing is getting the oil from the plant. All of it will have whatever cannabinoids are in it. Be it THC, CBD or both. I’ve grown hemp that gets you high.
What he is saying is that you have to decarboxylate(heat it up) the weed or oil to activate it and CBD takes longer than THC. Basically all you are doing is heating it up at 240 for a certain time in the oven. I find it easier with alcohol extracted oil as you just watch it until it stops bubbling.
I have extracted lots of CBD this way.

So if I extract using the alcohol method, I no longer have to cook the buds leaves etc. Just the alcohol oil mix, then cooking it I assume gets rid of the alcohol?

If you do a good job with the alcohol extraction, the bud and leaves are a waste product.

Some of the alcohol will evaporate during decarb. The rest you can let evaporate at room temp down to the consistency you want.
