It takes a confident person to show their "less than stellar attempts". Maybe these ladies will surprise the shit out of you when the warm weather & sunshine start working their magic!

Did I forget to tell you that we finally got one of the rats? And that I finally cooked up the mature squash they'd been eating, and discovered why they found it better than anything else we were putting on the baits? Seriously, this is the best squash I've ever had.

You'll see that the rat is lying dead next to the trap, but nothing of the rat was actually caught *in* the trap. That's a quick & crafty rat. Based on the previous snapped traps and how this guy looks, I think that he got whacked by the trap, but was quick enough to stay out of it altogether.
Unfortunately, it's also a wood rat, and it's known that kissing bugs tend to use their nests, so we've gotta wage a little rat war. I would love to have another (friendly) cat, but I've been nixed by the Husband Dept. on that one. So, he gets to lay traps for the rats.

Mine was the last squash this one ever had.

You know what? I've been wracking my brain trying to figure out how to get any kind of snake active during these months up here, as well as how to get more king, gopher, garden and black racers into my gardens during growing months. I just don't run into many snakes out here, not very many at all. Hell, if I could find a rattler I'd relocate it to my garden and just be cognizant. In fact, that gives me an idea with regard to the fucking rippers.....

Oh.... oh my... it's terrible but beautiful at the same time.

RIGHT? :D They'd definitely go to the hospital I would think, at least. That would make them very easy to spot.

Now, just gotta round up some rattlesnakes. I've got rats to feed 'em!

Next round is looking far better, are you amending with prilled dolomite lime? That stuff takes care of any potential pH problems so you can rule them out when troubleshooting. For future runs, I'd also suggest adding a layer of coco on the top and bottom to assist in drainage, as well as elevating your tables off the ground; this will keep the roots warmer/happier, and allow the runoff to drain away from the rhizosphere into buckets where you can test ph and ppm.

Keep Killin' it Ken!
