hi my name is Joe. I am a new grower in New Mexico. I have only got to the vegetative state . I was late for budding . How can I know when it is time to start budding?

I'm sorry for my complete butchering of the terms. I don't know how to say the terms, all I know is I know how to get started and into seedlings, from there I'm a blank notebook

Your plants start "VEG" when they get there first set of True leaves (sorry about the wrong info at first). You need to write the first day you see them down or save it to memory..
You can start the Flower stage as little as 4 weeks after this veg stage starts. I wait for 6 But I have a small 3x3 Tent you can "veg" forever if you really want so after the 4 week after veg mark its really up to you.

Hey Joe welcome to the farm.
Tell us about your setup. Let us know how you grow and what you are growing. Pics are always nice to help in diagnosing issues.
If you get someone to help you and instructions and terms are not clear just ask. We tend to throw terms around here that a lot of people do not understand.
I always recommend to use the great resources here. One of them resources is the 3 horizontal bars up top on the left side. Hit those and navigate to the forums section. From there find the grow diaries section. Once I. The grow diaries use the spyglass feature to tag terms for searching like the strain you are growing or nutrition choices and deff put the grow medium coco, soil, water hydro, red solo cup you name it you will find entries that are just like what you want to do and with the pictures to prove it.
Good luck

If you are doing an outside grow, look at your grow region chart for your state, like in most states you have grow sectors. It will give a light table of expectancy and better details of what types of vegetables grow at times of the year. For new Mexico I would recommend auto flower because it gets cold AF if I remember right at night. So optimal time of year would be a temperature of 60-65°f at night for however long the strain you are trying to grow. Also you have factors of rain, so having something to throw over during the few times it would rain there .

Otherwise you would need to force it into flower at least 9-10 weeks before your grow section summer schedule is up. Or you have to finish inside for a couple weeks if you just try to go with the grow season. I would suggest getting a grow tent starting kit so you can grow during winter as well as have one ready for next out door season.

So I am mainly an indoor grower. I've tried outdoor, it's not my thing, I like having control of the heat and cooling. I use basic soil that comes from Lowe's, to be precise, Miracle-Gro garden soil, and filtered water. I have been moving and want to upgrade my setup. I've looked into lights and want to have a step up from my basic lighting, and I had a friend who I got seeds from, who passed away. Since then, I haven't gotten specific seeds, but I have been able to get to the veg state, but lost the plants to the cold. The seeds I get are from the flower I get at the dispensary.

Any recommendations for a reliable seed website?

This one lol. There are multiple growers on her that distribute seed, it all legal to buy seeds and ship. It falls under the hemp guidelines. No THC. For a grow setup, I recommend marshydro. Equipment lasts and is a good price point. From there you can upgrade your setup as you grow. But it's the quickest and cheapest way if you get a starter kit. You can sell stuff you don't want or upgrade and sell the old.

Vivosun, I have hear mixed reviews on. Spiderfarmer I have had a few lights from them. They degrade fast. And a buddy of mine woke up to his spiderfarmer light popping and smoking, almost caught his tent on fire. But if you got money. Go for more expensive lights for your space. Do your research on the light. Don't believe all listed lumens and power ratings unless it's a trusted company. There's tons of new companies coming out of China with these absurd claims and these crazy awesome lights... They're not. Lol
