I received the following from ASA - wanted to pass it along to all the patients here.

We have seen an uptick in local and federal medical cannabis enforcement in the Los Angeles area recently. I want to be sure you are prepared for a law enforcement encounter before or during a raid. Do you know how to assert you rights? Are you required to answer questions about a collective, your health, or your medical cannabis use?

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) raided collectives in Los Angeles and West Hollywood last week, and the Northeast Division of the Los Angeles Police Department seems to be routinely raiding facilities in its jurisdiction – regardless of whether or not they are qualified under Measure D. The LAPD Northeast Division services the communities of Atwater Village, Cypress Park, Eagle Rock, East Hollywood, Echo Park, Elysian Park, Elysian Valley, Franklin Hills, Garvanza, Glassell Park, Highland Park, Los Feliz, Mount Washington, Silver Lake, and Solano Canyon.

In some case, the LAPD stopped patients outside of local collectives to ask them questions before obtaining a search warrant to raid the facility. The questions are designed to prove that the collective is not legitimate. There are no right answers, and you have nothing to gain by playing along with this charade.

Remember that you do not have to answer questions if you are detained outside of a collective. Tell the police officers: “I do not consent to a search. I choose to remain silent. I want to speak to an attorney.” Stand your ground. Your rights to be free of illegal searches and have an attorney during questioning are guaranteed in the US Constitution. The LAPD does not have the authority to override them.

Please let ASA and your collective know if you are detained, as this indicates a police raid is imminent
