Good morning fellow mellow cats. Looks like it'll be a lovely 101° today. I'm glad I'm not on the roof here, or at my construction project. Little note, after I installed my continuous roof insulation at the mountain house, the upstairs and the downstairs were the same temperature. That's encouraging. It was scorching up there before.

Good! Maybe you won’t let any of them get to the brink of death this weekend!

It is the nature of the beast! The plants and I kind of get used to it. 100+ for the next 10 days at least. Mother nature’s way of seeing if you were paying attention in class!

Brrr! I would have to break out a sweater! Tomorrow, 44°C. Then cools off down into the low hundreds. Good for the old rheumatism!

My VPD was only 5.3. Not much worse than the tent last week right before harvest

We are all suffering from this heat wave. Any suggestions @Oldchucky for survival tactics? I'm gone all day out in the heat like the plants, but not on a roof constantly.

Sorry, it took me a while to get back to you, electro. Here’s my take on it. My plants are big enough to not worry about overwatering anymore. So I’m not watering the plants anymore, I am watering the soil. Taking care of the soil. That is why the larger pots. They hold enough soil to retain moisture through these hot and dry spells. Which here is pretty much till September! Lol! Need to keep some moisture in the soil for the microbial life and for the evaporative cooling effect it has on the roof zone. The last thing you want is for the pot to dry out completely! So I dump a lot of water on them in the morning mainly the outer half of the pot until I see water bleeding out of the bag. Then I’ll slop on the inner half, but maybe not soak it to the bone. I just trying to maintain a certain level of moisture. Will come out late in the afternoon and dump some more water on it. just trying to keep water moving through the medium and keep things cool. Small pots will need more attention because they dry out faster. Just have to kind of eyeball it and learn from experience. And I reach under the pot and fill the bottom and if it’s still moist at the end of the day and I know I’m on the right track. Just don’t let the pot dry out. Should be OK. I don’t fuck around with any solar netting or any of that stuff. 35 and 40 gallon pots pretty much eliminate the need for that. All about taking care of your soil and the plants will take care of themselves. Have a good one talk at you later. it is 90% horse sense! Be the plant!
