Hey Guys,
Im new here and honest dont know much. I mean i once smoked and though i went blind, turns out the light was off. So Im in IT and have been tasked with organising a management system for a grow farm. I want to do it cos i admire the work that growers and farmers put in. Just don't know if there is such software.

When you say management system do you mean like an automatic system to grow weed?

Welcome to the farm, a lot of great information around here! I'm alost in IT and after my time is done here I'd love to get in the IT field on a large farm as well. I'm intrigued on what your goals that you're trying to accomplish overall?

Hey man! I hope you and your family are well. The thing is, this client has the product cut and ready. Packed into Gs but has no accounting or any inventory system. I want to be able to barcode each packet, scan into inventory, then scan out when sold and its taken off stock. So come month end, the client isnt losing as much as they are now.

You need some type of inventory management software. Maybe look into one and if you know how to write programs, you could write your own implementing what you liked off of the software. Make the changes you need for your specific needs.

Yes I am almost positive there is software for this and is subscription based and will need to pay for it plus a monthly fee to keep up to date.

If you’re trying to code something yourself, I would assume you could get something done on something as simple of JavaScript based off excel sheets and database files manually created.

There is croptracker but the subscription is hectic and for bigger farms. Thank you for your help, truly appreciate it!

Here’s a pretty good process that I assume you’re trying to accomplish:

1. Barcode Generation

• Use a barcode generation tool or software to assign a unique barcode to each product or packet.
• Each barcode should be tied to a product ID or SKU in your inventory management system.

2. Inventory Management Software

• You’ll need inventory management software that allows you to:
• Scan items into inventory (adding stock).
• Scan items out (removing stock after a sale).
• Track stock levels in real-time.
• Some common solutions include:
• Standalone systems: Shopify, Square, or Lightspeed.
• ERP systems: Odoo, SAP, or Microsoft Dynamics.
• Custom solutions: You can develop one using Excel or Google Sheets paired with barcode scanners and a custom database.

3. Barcode Scanner

• Choose a barcode scanner (either a handheld device or an app on a smartphone) that integrates with your inventory software.

4. Stock Check-in Process

• When a product arrives, scan its barcode to add it to inventory. The software will log the item along with relevant details (quantity, price, supplier, etc.).

5. Point-of-Sale (POS) Integration

• Integrate the inventory system with your POS so that whenever an item is sold, it is automatically removed from inventory.

6. Month-End Reporting

• Use the software to generate monthly reports, showing:
• Products sold.
• Current inventory levels.
• Discrepancies in stock (e.g., losses due to theft, damage, etc.).
• Analyzing these reports will allow the client to track losses and adjust processes accordingly.

7. Inventory Audits

• Conduct periodic audits by scanning barcodes of current stock to match them with inventory records, helping to identify discrepancies in real-time.

It's called point of sale software. Also called POS. There are plenty of options out there with various price points and subscriptions. I'm big on using open source solutions, so, I would suggest looking into the world of Linux. With a little effort, I'm sure you'll find the right solution. Best of luck!!
