Hello all ,

This is my first time growing and my first post in the forums .

My soil was fine until i start having a heater on at night to keep the room warmer (from 15c to 20 c ) . Then 2 pots had this weird kind of white dust on the top .

Is this normal ? or could it be the start of something bad ? no white stuff on leaves

plants look ok-ish given i almost nut burned them, nut starve and ph hiccups (poor things)

Thank you for your time ,
Best !

If your plant doesnt show negative reactions, id bet its just the mycorrhizae (different types of soil dwelling fungus) showing itself on the top soil. Since its nice and warm the fungus could feel more comfortable moving upwards.

Just keep an eye on it, if something starts creeping up your plants stalk or if the plant starts to show signs similar to root rot then id worry, otherwise i think youre good man! :)

Yes and actually the second pot which i dont have pics (it had semi-root rot and plant got stunned ) i gave it a good watering with voodoo juice on all the area it was white so makes sense about the mycorrhizae . btw the plant is recovering after that, i almost shed a tear when i saw it :D

I presume just mycelium. Most of the fungi that produce it don't feed on cannabis and the plant isn't competing with the mycelium for nutrients. Usually beneficial but not always. So like advice here, just keep an eye out for how the plant feels about it being there.

You're all good, but don't let your roots be exposed to light like that. The white stuff is probably dying microbes, and mycelium that have been exposed to the light/heat. I would throw on another handful or two of soil and cover them up. Those roots will branch out more when back in the dark and damp, and the beasties in the soil can do their thing once again. Whatever area of roots that are exposed, then they arent absorbing anything for your plant.
