Hey all.

I have harvested a few test branches of my grow (first grows so go easy lol)

Anyway, hung to dry with all leaves etc left on, but I have been struggling with humidity being low here at the minute, it's not getting above 40, but temps at around d 25c.

Left it for a few days and checked them, they are looking terrible, very very light and airy.

Is this just an issue with environment or something else?

Thanks

That is a pretty fast dry, but it doesn't cause the buds to be airy, that is caused by growing conditions. The drying/curing process makes the smoke less harsh, but doesn't really affect the bud structure. Airy buds, if not genetic like some sativas, are caused by insufficient lighting and nutrients, and/or generally poor growing conditions. What lights are you using in what size space?

I remember the plant this came from. It looked fried from light and nutes. I don't know what you did wrong from the get go i hope you do and don't repeat it. Like the post above said could be light fluffy strain related and stress caused these to be fluffy. I'd really be aware of this now and don't hang as long or check daily.

Your becoming my personal guru photo, so thank you again.

Yeah I don't think it's genetics, these are northern lights which is indica dominant, and yes a very quick dry, humidity has been band on all grow aswell, typical.

The light is not the greatest, it's Just a cheap light that pulls around 150w from the wall, it's a 2x2ft tent.

Tbh it could be all of the above you mentioned, I have tried to keep environment and nutrients etc were they should be, so maybe time for a better light.

I think my buds get airier as they dry! You’re taking a lot of moisture out of them!

Ok so here's a few grams ground up, to me it looks a little green? (Not dried all the way through maybe?

Who cares what it looks like! As long as it gets you hammered! It’s probably not gonna look much better ground up than it did on the plant! Enjoy!😁 Twist one up and see if it burns! The last thing you wanna do is jar it up too wet!

Yeah, I think next time, back off on the nutes, that poor plant is fried. 150 watts in a 2x2 should be fine, you might even dim it a bit (if so equipped) or raise it up a little, at least during veg, then fine tune during flowering. Take off as many of the dead leaves as possible, they're mold magnets.

Are you used to smoking 2yr old dispensary bud? This is fresh in my experience it outta look like this.

OK, so I rolled up the biggest joint I ever had, because why not, however the effects where poor, very little in the way of a high.

Is this likely meaning plant needs longer?

Yeah it's a dimmable light, and all dead leaves removed.

See about regarding effects.

Once again thank you guys for the help, it's really hard to get good advice without a load of abuse.

This ain’t no contest, you are competing against yourself. Live and learn. Listen to OldChucky, smoke it, if you get whacked, high five to yourself. From Dylan,”Well, I try my best; To be just like I am,; But everybody wants you; To be just like them.”

So did it burn on its own? Or did you have to light it for every toke? Incomplete combustion can have an effect. That was a rough looking plant and it was hard to tell if it was tri-comb challenged or not! The fewer mature, try combs the less potent! And it could’ve been early! From what I’ve seen, that is probably the main reason for a weak potency! Pictures only get you so far! You can figure it out! It’s better if you do! And being sure of what you are growing goes a long way towards problem-solving, later! Are you sure it was in NL from a decent source?😁🐒✌️ Hearsay is inadmissible in court! It should be in admissible in the grow room also!

It burnt ok on it's own.

Trichomes are all over the shop lol, lots of white and amber but lots of clear also, which is why I chopped a test branch. (You can see them on my other post)

Seeds are just some cheaper seeds from a local seedbank in the UK, so genetics aren't going to be great.

Lots more equipment order, including a new light, dehumidifier and humidifier, so now to drop some money of some good genetics I suppose.

Yeah, a good shakedown run! You indoor guys are lucky! One screwed up run, and you are out three months! If I screw up a run, I am out a year! Ha ha! But we wouldn’t have it any other way! Keep hammering away at it!
