ok, well over the years i have tried many different mediums and medium mixes(not full hydro), from store bought soil, to custom home mix soil, to soiless base, to pure promix, to coco, and now im back full circle to the original medium i started in, and i couldnt be happier...in my experience this mix with a very simple kiss style fertigation program is simple, and has yielded me the most harvest per light hands down.

now to get to the point of this mix, its cheap, incredibly cheap that i dont think you will be able to make a run cheaper when counting on soil and fertilizer...this is the cheapest to set up and its what i have personally harvested most on. total cost for a 8 light 140 plant room is aprox 150$ in soil and 30$ in ferts :D and this is the only method ive come close/over the 2#/light, every other method i would hit around 1.5/light.

so here is Joe's KISS:

1 bale promix(107L)
1 bag of shrimp compost(30L)
1 bag of sheep manure compost(30L)
2 cups of dolomite lime

mix together and moisten, let sit for a day or 2, this will help the lime adjust the ph properly after weting the soil and mixing.

plant clones directly in this mix, and use a regular tomato plant food thats dissolvable(15-15-30) or something else if you prefer, but dry powdered ferts is prefered in this method, and cheaper too....generally for indica, i like to have a higher K fert, and lower P, but for sativa its the opposite i prefer higher P and lower K.

fertilize the day you plant the clones at 650ppm(1.3EC), and dont water again until they are almost completely dry, this will allow the roots to search for water and expand themselves nicely early..after the first water/dry period, you can start to water at the amount and frequency that you normally would with soil/soiless.

this is a simple method, where you mix the soil, plant, then water at 650ppm(1.3EC) every watering @ 6.5 ph

no need to chck runoff, no need to verify anything, other that water going in, and not to over water, other than that, for me, this is the simplest, most cost effective way to get larger harvests.

ive always used chem ferts for this, i suppose you could use luquid organic nutes instead, but your cost will go up signifigantly, and though they are designed not to burn, liquid organic ferts EC vs chem ferts EC i find PERSONALLY chem ferts @ 650ppm is not the same as liquid organic ferts @ 650 ppm...i find organics to have a higher nute content per EC, therefore you may not burn the plants from too much salt, you may lead to abundant buildup of certain nutes i the media...

the way i see it, maybe try half with organic fert and half with chem ferts..see the diff, personally i like the organic soil mix for the added micro life and micro nutes, and i use the chem ferts as a base...i migth substitute some of the chem 15-15-30 for some powdered bloom booster in the last weeks but still not exceeding 700ppm the last 2 waterings before the flush(if you flush)

i use to use chems but really trying to go green but i to like the chems it seems i do better when i used chem used 15-30-15 n i water with rain n flush with rain i read in a thread it would mess up the ph using organic n chem ferts my avatar is all organic fri was one week of flower

Shrimp compost? Never even heard of it..
