I tried to pull out of the contest here but if I am unable to and somehow win, I am telling her to give them her mailing address. I'd like it....but I don't need it. I also know how it feels to be in that spot as well and something like this can be a real blessing. I'll come back as often as possible to bump this thread as much as I am able to. Good luck. @khalt03 you have one of the best journals here ( no offense to anyone else ) . Like I said, you post often with clear and quality pictures, keep a clean grow and journal. I am pulling for you to win at least one SP-250....if not more.

Thank you. Means a lot to me. I appreciate the hell out of y'all, too.

I don't have a tent yet to put him in specifically. I do have an alcove in the room that I might be able to suspend another light from to put him under. I'll just have to make sure it stays warm enough in there for him, though I don't think that will be a problem. Will it not affect him? Being away from the females, so to speak? For instance, I know with chickens, yes, they can lay eggs sans male, but they make better and stronger eggs with a rooster. However, I understand your point. (Talking myself through it). So, you are saying, this is what I need:

Rapid rooting tray w/ plastic insert
Surgical scissors (will a surgical knife work?)
Straight razor blades

Can you repeat everything after that? :)

I'm still running 18/6 lights inside the greenhouse. @oldskol4evr, you suggested I wait until we see how they are doing after recovery today, right? What are your methods for cloning?

dont really have one,i always crack seeds, seems like clones just go freaky on me,especailly the ones in pucks ,i had a plant few years back in a 15 gal pot, them damn clones wouldnt stay under the soil line for shit, that puck just kept coming out the ground,by harvest time ,it looked like a cypress tree on a river bank, had exposed roots above soil look pretty cool, but since then i just put cuts in a coffe container /cloner,if they root all good ,if they dont oh well hahahah.
but i do more seeds than anything,if i was able to grow year round id run clones though

What sort of coffee container? Old school metal kind or plastic?

Isn't there a natural way to clone? Without using created solutions?

making sure im in your thread, thats a big deal these days hahahah,
but here you go,i took these for bass captain,i did 4 myself waiting to see if they take, soon as i got a root i buried there ass this time, normally i wait for fish bones, but im stretched for time,
so easy to make, keep water warm and works best with splashing the bubbles around in there,so you have to keep it topped off,but i use reg water and make sure ppm is at 150ppm i just dilute it down ,my reg tap is 315 ppm ,so now you see why i use meters hahaah

Thank you!

They aren't happy with me this morning. They were cold and wet, I had turned the heat down last night. No normal greeting this morning. I had a talk with them last night before that last feed to let them know that if it was too much, please let me know. Well, they sure did. I have turned the heat back on, handled them a bit, and turned the fan off to warm them up. See below, everyone is all droopy. So now, I know 2 solo cup feedings, spread apart, not 3. For now, anyway. The water y'all see on the leaves, they created themselves.

Hey khalt03 ,
There are many ways to take cuts , my suggestions are a little more costly and not necessarily the best way , first off , you can use any scissor thats reasonably sharp to cut the stem , next you dont need rapid rooters at 20.00 a bag , also you dont need a 25.00 bottle of clonex , or any other rooting hormone if you are against it..

Oldskol solution is fantastic , and will work just fine , even putting the cut in a glass of water like any old tomato plant will work , the only hiccup is environment , like ambient air factors , too hot , too dry , too cold etc etc....so for me the domes will give you a more controlled space for the clones to thhrive....

Instead of the rapid rooters and hydro shop style , more expensive dome and tray ,you can pick up a seedling tray from wallmart or the loocal garden shop , tru value whatever, i think even target has em ....same concept , tray peat pucks , like old skol was describing ...they arent much costwise...
You might need a small hydrofarms heating pad , the tiny one , but ive never used one...
If you look at my gallery, you will see a lot of clone pics and all the materials i use, also i did a clone making thread , so i will forward that to you...

If it were me i might make a few clones for fun , and take on seed making for the next run , when all the other issues you will encounter are worked out...
Making seeds on your first run , now that im awake and thinking more clearly , is not a great idea...

And letting your plants do whatever they want to do under your supervision , like just guessing if male pops up and let nature take its course , thats a really bad idea, and a lot of people are going to agree, the goaal of the first grow is usually focused on raising females , learning what the plants needs are and observing the " sensimilla" (without seed) process develope, i think making seeds now will result in disappointment....

As far as the clones go , yea i still encourage that , but i wouldn't go as far as collect pollen or taking clones off the 18 hour light schedeule ,......

still look good,i meant i used 2 solo cups hahaha and they were in flower girl, so if you feed twice a day right now ,do 1 solo cup each feeding ,see how much runoff you get ,that is the whole goal here ,you want a good runoff to wash old nutes out,but not flood them if you dig,i seen them roots coming threw the bags too hahah

I actually might have two male SSSD. Not sure yet. I would like to wait a couple of days before cloning, if that makes sense? Is now the time that I'll be able to sex the plants?

Everyone is warmer and standing upright now. Turned the fan on and I'll go check on them again to make sure all is okay. Now I'm paranoid I've overfed them since I misjudged what you said, @oldskol4evr

i agree with this,if you do choice to make seeds ,take the male and lady and isolate them,my 2x4x5 tent ,the reason i bought it was for breeding,i take the male and female and put the tent up on back porch with a little fan inside it,close the tent up tight with fan on,reach threw the hole on side and shake the male, give 24 hrs and do it again, wait 24hrs,then i open tent discard the male and take the female drench down the soil first, then take a squirt bottle and drench down the leaves top and bottom,i mean turn that bitch upside down and drench them leaves ,then i sit it down under a ceiling fan i have on porch and let the leaves dry ,when dry ,all over again wet soil, turn upside down and drench her good,if pollen gets wet it is no longer good,so your rinsing all the pollen off her, after she dried real good i put her right back in flower room, never had any issues doing this,so if you do plan on keeping the stud, move him from the room into his own crib and make the lady sway her ass over there to him hahahahh.
be warned though, that one girl is gonna make about 500 seeds ,be sure you want and like the smoke before hand,so taking cuts of the male can be easily done and keep the stud alive threw cuts, same with the female make cuts before you flip to flower and keep um going to make sure you like the smoke first

Y'all are awesome. Okay, so the plan is @oldskol4evr & @dire wolf:

  1. Take cuts of the male and female.
    1. What do I do with the current male (still waiting to make sure, might just be a really boss female)
  2. Keep them alive through cuts.
    1. What do I do with the current male?
    2. Is this what happens, we just put them out to the grave? Or can he become like a houseplant or something?
  3. Let current plants do their thing.

Part II:

See if I like the SSSD smoke. If so, move to Chapter 2, pollination?

There was another question swimming around my brain surrounding this, but now it escapes me.

cant sex till they start under 12/12 schedule, there are way to do it early, butleads to funky ,2 -3-single leaf sets, then it will have to go back to reveg and that takes forever, thats what up with my clones right now,i rooted them and now they reveging,be a month before i see any change on them hahaha, but they are females and they are the last grow show until october,to damn hot to grow here after end of may
