Ok guys I’m new here so bare with me. I have just set up my first 2x4 tent with the ventilation and carbon filter. I want to run 2 bloombeast A520 I’m this tent but I feel like that may be cramped. However, someone is offering me two new King LED 1000 watt (think it’s 185 at the wall) for $150. That’s a hard deal to beat. Anyone have any experience with these or a similar grow. I know they’re not the best but for a small grow looking for big yields what are your options. Thanks in advance

Most cheap LEDs are worse than a double ended hps setups and are less efficient (will waste more energy than a de hps) but I have also seen some good looking plants from blurple leds too. At the end if the day do whatever your budget requires:)

Thanks for the heads up and I probably shoulda included some more info. For lights I have a budget of about $500 space is my concern I don’t have much more headroom so I liked the idea of a LED. I did find a set of COBs or should I just pull the trigger one 2 Bloombeast A520s and call it a day. Thanks again for the help guys. I’ll post a pic of the cob bar he’s asking $400 for 2 four foot long bars and driver.

Did the guy name the brand and model of COBs he used? And what type of driver and model? If its cree or vero or even probably citizen it's a fairly good deal if the COBs are the latest models. Even if they arent itll work a ton better than the original light you posted. One caveat is if they're all in 2700k or something a little more specialized spectrums you may want to hold out on a setup that is between 3 and 4000k. The k stands for kelvins and they do matter but everyone has a opinion on the best. The common consensus is 3000,3500, and 4000 are the best full cycle spectrums (for both veg and bloom).

Thanks for all that helpful info! So I asked and this is what he has sent me. I’m not sure if I’m on the right patch but it seems to be close to what you mentioned. I’ll put some more pics up of it. Idk what driver it is though maybe someone can see it in the picture. If it looks good I’m going to pick it up tonight for $400. I don’t have a lot of space in my 2x4 so hopefully this one I’m looking at will work for the entire grow as I do not want to have to switch or add more lights if it can be prevented.

The driver is a hlg320 1050b which is great! @SmithsJunk can you tell what type of COBs are in the fixture? I believe it will be a save purchase but if you can hold out for Smith junk I would, he knows more than me around cobs

Can't tell by the lenses. There should be some identifying markings on them. If the COB is modular it's probably a Cree. If those are 100w x4 CXB3590 then they're probably 3500K and it's a $400 fixture at a good price and will grow through harvest. Probably $600 on Amazon new.

Have you researched any on the gavita led's? Just curious to see how you feel about gavita vs fluence. Personally I wouldn't support gavita I just dont agree with who owns them but I'm still curious if they're worth it lol

Looks nice, stats are solid, but bml/Fluence has been in the led game a lot longer. Reason their shyt is so pricey they typically cater to science and bioresearch labs and huge commersh greenhouses. Its hard to say who will come out on top. I am sticking with Fluence as I have seen 1st hand what their lights can do and I am impressed and that my friend is hard to do. :D

And I like that they are mfgred in merica

Nice man! I've heard nothing but positive stuff from their customer service just like you said. I still haven't seen one in person but they're badass from photos. You gotta DM a link to your grow log if you make one with the LEDs :)

It's enough that you know lighting in general. You're knowledge is far beyond my own.

Still need a better picture, but they're looking a lot like Cree. Can you focus in on a close-up of a single COB?

I didn't realise they were two lights. I thought it was two pics of the same fixture. Now knowing it's x8, I revise my estimate as a minimum of $400 if those are 50w ea, minimum $800 If 100w (and Cree lights).

If those are 100w CXB3590, at only 8" above the canopy, at 60-70%, they will give you a 4x10 footprint, and grow 8 plants till harvest. More headroom, at 100% power you could probably add another row of 4 between for a total of 12 plants. IMO, it's possible to grow even more but the lights might need to be put in a bigger frame and 90deg lenses removed for better canopy coverage.

Pics were too blurry for me to see the COBs. It should be easy enough to tell for yourself. Cree has a holder, others are soldered in (unless there's a generic that's copycatted Cree).
