Hello growmies. First time grower and I have 8 plants going, 4 autos 4 fems in different grow spaces. The Durban auto that’s in week 2 of flowering and the leaves are rapidly turning. Also showing same on the vegging fems but only one few leaves. Been too feeding the soils often (started in fox farm) with 4-4-4 and 2-8-8 and worm castings and cal mag and iron once a week even adding Epsom salts in small amounts daily. Should I be concerned or is it normal? The rust spots are popping up more everyday

I’m not an expert. But I know a thing or two cause I’ve seen a thing or 2 haha.

Copper deficiency’s are relatively rare. So I’m hesitant to call it one. As it could be a ph issue. But damn if that doesn’t look like a copper deficiency

It also could be as innocent as your plant shedding leaves while it uses that stored up energy to grow bud. But typically in that case it would be your lowest leaves turning a shade of yellow and falling off.

The real bad ones have been from the lowest branches but its kinda spotty and random everywhere else. Also happening on my plants that im vegging out too but way less and only one or two leaves a week usually and iv just been cutting them off. Thats good to know though, thanks! I thought maybe it was the buds sucking the nutes out the leaves but also want to make sure its not something i can correct for maximum dank-ness. Just gave them all a hefty top feed and some cal mag and iron so ima give it a week.

Can you be more specific on your feeding schedule, including all nutrients used, how much and how often? It's not clear to me but you said you started in foxfarm salt, then you mention organics from the look of the NPK values and you also mention epsom salts. Tell us more about your nute schedule and the hows and whens and it'll make a world of difference in the conclusion.

You mention you're going to keep adding calmag now but it looks like you're a decent ways into flower. The plant doesn't require as much calcium during flower and many stop it altogether after a week or so in flower. Also, for the most part, fox farm nutes are salt based and provide a faster feedback on what's going on with the plant. If you switch to 4-4-4 or other organic nute you're giving it a fertilize rthat now needs to be broken down to use and that takes time. The worm castings are more quickly available to the plant.

You also mention you're growing in soil, what soil is that? If it's coco then the answers will be different.

Thank you for the reply! Sorry i should have been much more specific. Im not using fox farm nutes im using all organic i suppose besides the cal mag and iron is liquid/synthetic?

Hey, thanks for the reply. Yes your right I def need to be more specific. I’m not using fox farm nutes just the ocean forest soil. I’m too feeding with these (I’ll add photos) only thing that I’m using that’s synthetic salt based is the cal mag an iron from and suppose the epsom salt (which is 100% magnesium sulfate.

I began the grow with just filtered water ph to 6.7ish give or take a few. I believe game them some weak molasses tea around 2 weeks. Fed top soil 1 table spoon per gallon (I’m using both 3 and 5 gallon pots) and a handful or two of worm castings. at about 3 weeks right before I left for vacation for a week. Ph all the water for the week and had my roommate water once a day or when dry. Came back and the plants were thriving. Fed again about two weeks later giving them molasses t 2 or 3 times between. And just fed again two weeks later. I did have a humid issue for a couple of days and learned a lot about vpd and corrected my issues and the plants are thriving again. So they could be in recovery mode but still seems like spots are popping up daily.

I also did not give them water for two days having watching a bad video and a few leaves dried up and def had an effect on them.

Other than that I water in the mornings and sometimes a light water at night.

And one of the widows is almost neon green and the others are dark green. Not sure what that’s all about either! Ha

This is a very difficult one to figure out.. it almost looks like a fungal problems more than a deficiency.. but I'm truly guessing because your plants looks fairly healthy. How much Epson salt are you using per feed as well as cal mag

Iv been using 3 teaspoons per 5 gallons and 2 table spoons of epsom salt per 5 gallon

2 tablespoon is almost 30g per 5 gallon. Usually we will recommend 5 to 10g per that 5 gallon of Epson salt. You may have a lockout issue if you add this everyday.

i bought epsom salt to try and salt said issues but doesnt seem to be helping at all.

You do not want to be mixing organic dry amendments and synthetic nutrients. You are killing off your organics and just toxifying your soil.

Filtered water? Use Gypsum for Calcium and Epsom salts to cover Magnesium. There are organic methods to cover any and all nutrient demands your plant has. Organic or synthetic, pick one and stick to it. The rust spots are most definitely a Calcium def.

You do NOT add Espom salts daily. You add 1-2 tablespoons to your watering every 2 weeks if necessary.

Good information but Magnesium can be added daily especially if you are growing in coco.. not for soil though. every two weeks is good for soil.. any more can cause nute lock.

I don't see any need/reason to be daily dosing a micronutrient but to each their own šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

He is growing organically, so I am giving organic advice. Thanks.

I am as well.

Organically or synthetic has nothing to do with feed rate. It's the medium the plant is growing in. Wether it be soil or coco or soilless.

I don't know if it has been said already, but judging from your light spectrum, you're running LED lights?

The tops of your plants are looking a little light stressed as well. I would try backing the lights off a bit for a while.

From what I've gathered too much light can cause Calcium deficiency.
