I just bought a 4x4x80” grow tent for this winter to try my hand at indoor growing and I have no clue what would be a good reliable brand of an led light that’s reasonably priced that will do good for veg and flowering. I was thinking about shooting for at least three plants. Any any suggestions are welcome thank you.

Yep. 480 watts is a good size. That's 30 watts per square foot. I don't have any HLG lights, but those who always speak highly of them. They tend to be costly, though. I'm using ViparSpectra and AC Infinity lights. I can recommend both. ViparSpectra probably has the best of the two, cost wise.

I recommend a bar light for that size of tent. They disperse the light well.

Do you have a plan for how you want to grow? Soil, coir or hydro? Photos or autos?

I'm getting a 4 x 4 for christmas. Going to move my HLG 650R from my current 3 x 3 to the new tent. Thats only 39w per sqft. If I want more I have a couple of HLG 260 Rspec's I can flank with.

Depending LED brand you'll find 500W to 800W models that will fit in term of panel dimension and scale in term of power. (you'll even find some 1000W if you use some CO2)

here a few of the most used and rather cheap LED brand.

spiderfarmer, hlg, ac infinity, vivosun, phlizon, lumatek, viparspectra, mars hydro

check their officals web site and compare, most of them have continentals warehouses, and officials websites ( .com, .uk, . eu, .au ,etc.)

For a tent size you usually find a range of 2-3 models per brand that will fit and scale.
Models with larger dimension and more Watt usually offer a more even light coverage and dispersion near tent borders but you may not use them 100% close to the plants.

Each brand will have their tweak regarding the spectrum, led layout, app, fan, orientability and whatever but truth is when it come to comparing the end results with panel equivalent in power amongst thoose brands you won't see much difference with the final results.

(i would avoid mars hydro TS series it's not uncommon some people had some issues with them, also i think most viparspectra new models are not fully dimmable but with step)

(i m with spiderfarmer, i like the simplicity of their fixtures and they had the best panel dimension for my 2x3 tents)

as exemple here the models from spiderfarmer that will fit a 4x4, all others brands will have some equivalence.

Thank you all for the information everyone. I won’t be actually purchasing anything for a lil while yet but it’s nice to have some ideas on what to start looking into
