Hello fellow farmers!,
I'm trying to find information about "corn" led lights. From what I read a 120 watt bulbs could replace up to a 600 hid.
Does anybody have experience with these or know of?
If I knew the quality I would buy 1(€200 each). That way I could run 2 cfl's (300 watts each to the sides) & 1 corn led 120 watt in the middle.
I could run a lot of light with low heat and no need for a ballast so it could be low cost.
Any information is highly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Would love to hear some personal stories on this one. Never used led for anything more then veg. Power just wasn't there for the plants. That was years ago so I hope it's changed for the better.

Its all about PAR numbers. Crappy LEDs can give off less than 300 umols, which is barely enough to sustain a vegging plant. Studies show veg needs 500 to 700 and flower needs 800+. Some studies show as high as 1500. I currently do 1200 in veg and 1500 in flower. But at that cost you're almost better off buying a nice LED system like Platinum LED. Ive been using those with great success.

If you want to read more, there is a website ledlampshining.com. They have 150 watt bulbs with 20,000 lumens running between 2000 - 6700k spectrum.

Not in a million years … well .. maybe in 20 years… but today, there is no way 120w actual power draw can replace 600 hid. 15,500 Lumens? Sure, why not. But what is the PAR on it? Thant's what matters.

Lumens is for people, PAR is for plants (except UV and IR). Add micro-moles to the mix.

I also doubt those numbers are true.

Basically I've seen spotlights with hundreds of thousands of lumens that couldn't grow a blade of grass
