Lemon Cherry Gelato from ILGM seed.

Good morning Growers

I was lucky enough to win a spot back in the 420 contest that , IGM seed had run.

I chose the Lemon Cherry Gelato.

Seeds shipped from Europe to Canada quite quickly and then sat on the table while I wrapped up some work I had already going.

Seeds were shipped in a bubble wrap envelope and come with no issue as have all the past offerings.

There were some instructions on how to germinate which is great for newbies.
I personally would have tossed in soil and hoped the best , but in this case I thought I would just follow along.

So I read the info and continued.

Option , Presoak for 24-48 if you have time.

Time I have so into a Dixie cup with a bit of RO water.

24 hours later.

Seeds are floating and will now be scooped out and put in a wet paper towel.

I have done this a few times now placing the towel in a zip lock and then hang the bag vertical in the cupboard.

Those beans look healthy enough from the pics. I don’t put too much faith in the sink/float thing after 24 hours, some seeds just stay buoyant until the shell starts taking water in. The vertical paper towel trick is fine, I’d just keep the towel damp not soggy and don’t let the tap get too long before planting.

Once that little root tip shows, I like getting it into soil pretty quick so it can start finding minerals and biology instead of sitting on paper. That first contact with a decent living medium sets the tone more than people think.

Curious what soil mix you’re dropping these Lemon Cherry Gelato girls into?

Yes a longer rap root can sometimes be an issue in towel.
This fine seeds will be going into promix hp and will be watered in with ro and a bit of calmag.
About 160ppm or .32 ec .
Kind of like spring water , but better imo.

21 hours has passed and I am going to take a look.

Excellent, 4 seeds have cracked and tailed.

These 4 will now be planted into my medium. Which will be Promix Hp.

I have been getting at Rona+ but it is now a discontinued product.

So whatever stock is left is it.

The remaining seed will continue in the towel and bag.

I have a 5th pot on standby.

Good morning.

9 hrs and still nothing from this last seed.

It’s wet , viable looking.

Did not scuff the outsides , so with 4 in the ground I’m moving forward and cracking its shell .

Needle nose vise grips would be the tool for me.

Setting them up to barely grasp and then adjusting from there to just squeeze enough to crack.

She’s open and from what I see , it’s a live embryo.

Back in the towel.

I'd of been happy with 4 of 5 but good job getting #5! I ran ILGM's stuff when I started this grow, all ways had a decent harvest with them. Best of luck!

There all up with the cotyledon almost open on the 5th.

Well this 5th seedling did arrive but definitely not looking like the rest.

So it will be called a Runt until it transitions back or if it comes about.
