what ever haappened wit that runt smf?
It ended up pretty fire. It was actually the better of those 2 seeds lol. I was surprised. The first run it didn't yield as much but from close it was just as vigor and the smoke was better. Ended up being a super dense purple sour plant. I actually just trashed it for more space for this year's seed runs. Well actually not just trashed it but back in January I did. Runs can be worth the run if the genetics are sweet people may want to run them. From my experience it's git or miss

This thread inspired me to keep my runts. The ones I've kept in the past, turned out to be nothing special. I'll keep my runts this run and see what happens.

This an interesting thread. It should be kept alive.
This thread has inspired me too...Im going to learn to cull...
I usually grow all the females..rarely kill a female
I think i have enough to cull a few weak ones this year :)

Runt thoughts imho they always tend to grow out of it , so I would only keep if its a choice plant with no seed left and it can be human error but have found that only tends to happen with over watering. The can also be genetically in the plant I would also think as I received 10 beans of which I was told I would receive a runt here and there and I just culled the 5th of 5 from being tired of waiting for it to grow out.
I also lean with TK that the plants that shoot up as the tallest always seems to be male in my case ,
So again I would go with time , space and seeds left - as i don't reuse soil so if i have plenty i will cull asap if there are only a few seeds and i have space i keep

I do my seed run different these days. I pop my seeds, wait until they have about 4 nodes and flip them. They are small ass plants but I can do 50 of them at a time and find the keepers quickly. It's not really about the bud this way, it's about finding the gems. Last run I did 30 plants and kept one.

I guess Im going to have to cull one today..;)

these came out of the same seed

leaves do look nice:), toss your runts, if you clones her, you clone a runt. Try and remember nature is cruel and survival of the fittest wins. Which is why these plants spit out thousands of seeds once pollinated. If even one seed grows up, that plants did its job. But us humans like to try and keep shit alive, when nature would have killed it off.

If we tossed every runt without testing it, we wouldn't have Strawberry cough or Strawberry diesel or many other crosses with the strawberry cough in it.

I would say most runts are going to under perform, but some will be gems.
Just like in nature most mutations are a bad thing. Very very very few are beneficial, those select few that are, are special.

From what I learned, the biggest baddest cannabis plants are duds. It's usually the medium to small plants that have killer potency.

The hitler approach to growing.....nice. makes sense. Iv never put two and two together on the tall ones being males but Iim sure thats pretty accurate. I have noticed my males are usually skinnier and less beafy then the females. Thanks for the input TK.

lol@ "the Hitler approach."

I always root for the underdogs (root=pun) so I always baby the runts and try to keep them going. Almost always it's a waste of time and space.
