So Ive been looking around for the re-usable bag to use for compost tea. Ive seen that KIS brewers use a 400 micron for theirs. I can get a hold of a 220 micron bag here in town and was wondering if there are any major benefits from specifically using 400 micron rather than the 220. Anybody know?

Beer brewing stores have nice reusable bags- I forget the size microns. They are used for hops and whatnot. Very good for straining your tea and keeping your stuff separate while brewing.

there are a few websites that offer the tea bag in 400 micron.. Snax- the size allows for proper flow and colonization in the tea brew . I will provide a link later this really helps when applying a foliar because my fucking sprayer always clogs!!

are most opposed to just throwing the worm castings/compost into the tea itself without a bag?

I'm not 100% positive, but I think this is how both KIS Organics (out in WA state) and Microbeman (of microbeorganics.com) do it. I usually use a paint strainer to save my back, but IIRC they've said they get better microbe counts letting it float freely in the water column.

If you are using a big enough pump, or a prefilter on your pumps that wont clog, I could see where you get better saturation free floating it. In my 1 or 2 gal batches, I aint found a way to make that work.

I guess if I went huge air stones and air pumps I'd not have to worry about clogging, but I dont want to buy even more stuff. I use what I got.

Simplici-tea.com under products scroll to the bottom. Also this company is the bees knees and have smoked herb done with the nute pack used as directed and it was top 5 ever. It happened to be sour dubbs and by a meticulous grower so dont limit yourself to the bag. Great site and products.

Biologic systems extractor bag has worked well for me.Available at their website and some grow stores.

I like to brew without bagging then strain what I need for spraying- catch what I strain and either top dress directly or throw back in the mix for scooping and watering in... Does that make sense? Funny how English looks so weird sometimes...

Pre-filter on an air pump, Cort..? I'm a little confused. I don't use air stones, they become a home for the bugs that start biofilms. I just weigh down the end of the airline tubing and let her rip. :)
