I like weed as frosty as possible. And then if it also happens to get chunky thats ok too.
But what are some tricks to boost just trikes without biomass?

Look into uvb. It can be done cheap and safe.

Shit. My bad. For outdoor about all you can do is PK spike. That is extra pk in flower.

It seems to be mostly a genetic thing. Choose strains to grow that are known to produce a lot of resin.

I agree with mystic but if you are tryn to boost your genetic to the full potential .........Cool temps IME, also many swear about UVbs too but never tried.
Im a big enemy of the cannabis targeted nutrients and additives, most of em plain ripoffs but lately i tried a product, called Mammoth P , that is Pseudomonas bacterias plus alfa alfa extract and i relly got impressed by the boost of resin on my well know clones....now im using it every run...
Does anyone experienced the same comparated results with this additive? im really curious too.......i tryed cause got reccomended here by someone i dont remember now....
As far as Potassium Sulphate i never felt was a game changer in the boost of resin but sure on the taste when smoking....very sweet and tasty! But i stopped using it cause i always had plenty of potassium and sulfur in my soli from the base nutes (masterblend) and the Epsom salts......

BTW, I was using UVB for years. In all that time I never noticed an increase in trich density, size or anything of the sort. Some buds were within 2 inches of the UVB source. Other buds were up to 3 feet away. I would have expected higher trich density on buds near the light if there was any truth to the notion. Nothing like that occurred.

Dr. Bruce Bugsby says they found no increase in potency with UVB. The original paper on UVB and cannabis potency did not examine trichs at all. The plants didn't even flower — it was the cannabinoid content of the leaves that increased.

Anybody ever use mirrors around the plant? Or is that always too much.

I just realized one of my dankest plants was on the north side of a pond. Catching some of that sunlight off the water.
So grow on the north side of a body of water if you can.

wouldn't use mirrors around a plant. given the mirror will concentrate light into direct spots instead of reflecting and diffusing, the light from the mirror would almost certainly burn the plant like a magnifying glass can be used in war against ants. however, an option that would work would be boards painted flat white. would still reflect plenty of light but also diffuse it so the light won't start an unintentional fire.

2" from the UVB source with no burning? How long did you leave the UVB source on? I've got a T5 from California Lightworks and I think they recommend 2' from the canopy. My lamp is about 12" so I only put them on for 2 hrs. when the lights are on. Honestly I can't say for sure if there is a difference either.

That was another idea I had. A giant GIANT magnifying glass like 90 feet around. Suspended a few stories above the plants. But tuned just right to increase sunlight only by a reasonable percentage. But it would have to move itself east to west on a giant arched rail.

Somebody needs to try that.

I have the paper somewhere on my computer. I'll check what they did again, but I doubt it. This paper is several decades old. I'm sure they were using some crap they grow in that infamous government farm in Mississippi.

What lights did you use? If you use the right ones, you cant put them 2 inches away. Will burn those leaves right up.

On the contrary — I WAS using the right ones.

They're made for tanning beds and for desert reptiles. I've tried the ones for tanning beds — even tubes that claimed to be for cannabis (but they're full of shit, they're just relabelled). They will fry your plants. Reptile lights offer up to 12% UVB and they don't burn your plants.

Regardless, with either type I never saw greater trich density. When I had massive frost on plants, it was always genetics. Distance from the UVB source never came into play.

In my experience using uvb on greenhouse plants, they seem to enjoy it. They tilt toward it. But at the same time, if they get closer than a foot and a half from the light, the leaves taco like putting an indoor, outside in august. They curl right up. I have only ran them 10 or less runs, but imho, i do see more sand in my bags, then before. And I also get more smells then before using them. I continue to use them, because of the results. Oh yeah, agromax, pure uv. Dont get skin too close either. Will burn your ass super fast.
