It's my first time trying LST, does this look ok ?
The stalk is bent 90 degrees, touching the dirt and secured to the coco with pipe cleaners.
My plan is to do a 360 around the pot before flipping.

Should i let the stalk gain height or keep tying it down to the ground all the way ?
I've not seen anyone LST my way, they usually let the stalk gain height each node which seems counter-productive to me if you want an even canopy.

This won’t produce what u want to do, id let her grow vertically a bit first and then start the bending horizontally, this allows the stem to grow out instead of now it will just send the next node up as it’s main stem
I grew this clone out, used solder strand as I have pounds of silver we wire, the weight works to hold in place while allowing for horizontal growth unimpeded. I will keep moving it until I have a 360 then transplant to veveg for 4 weeks before flip

Isn't that the point ? Tie down node 3, wait for node 4 to grow upwards, tie down node 4, wait for node 5 etc..
This is the tutorial i'm using : https://www.thcfarmer.com/community/resources/how-to-lst-low-stress-training.252/

Yes that’s the point, you have to have a node to start from, from the looks you just started a bit too early

It's hard to make sense of the picture but this is the #5 node growing.
The stem is just in a weird L almost C shape and being hidden by the newly formed bottom branches.

Give em a week or so and see how they progress. It’s not wrong as it is, what you have going is the starts to what’s called mainlining. Which is even better more advanced techniques. So I’d keep going and let’s see how she progresses

It would of worked, you just got to keep at it.tie down let it grow and keep tieing down etc.it would work better outdoors but can b controlled how you were doing it with topping and only having so many branches.no bullshit ive never seen mainlining till this yr and have to admit what Jack og said its a great way of controlling your plant and all work is done early.its pretty damn impressive

Lst - low stress training.
The art of Submission

Can be done countless ways. This is how mine look, about a month out from flip. They will get defoliated again.

When flowering they look like this

When they are babies I begin and they look like this. Yes I mainline and lst.

In the end I get a nice even canopy covering almost 4x4 with two plants

6 plant legal limit. 2 plants flowering legal max. So with 60day ave flower, I have 120 or so days of veg possible. With that type of time to play with I can really mess around with these girls. I find it’s more important to spend the time early and train. Then it’s waiting and adjusting. I just trimmed the first photo down tonight, having a month aprox before flower. My biggest struggle really has really been the ScrOG hight placment when flower flip happens. It’s amazing what some people can do with LST. I follow a few Artists that make real art. Some of it is unworldly

If you want to see a true master when it comes to training, check out this guy on instagram

That’s right he legit grew the plant around a coin by splitting it. It’s truly art and I think it’s so damn cool

And the fact he grows in these mini pots, and even smaller is pretty impressive. He even cuts a plant in half and flowers it as two- I wish I had that type of time and dedication

I like your wire retainers. I've only used garden stakes and waxed string before. It was my first time growing and using LST and I continued to spread them out for weeks, holding several branches down at a time.

I've found super-cropping and pruning to be much easier to do and control, and produces a better effect (though I do love the LST art and want to do that myself, eventually). Training is easy once your no longer afraid of hurting your plants. They are very resilient (at least they are in an outdoor setting).

Hmph, I didn't think LST and main-lining had anything to do with each other. I'm not saying they don't, just that I wasn't aware of it.

I plan to mainline next year in my outdoor garden. Have a couple outdoor grows under my belt and have tried a few different techniques. I feel more confident in my ability now and want to step up my game.

That was last year's outdoor.

Orange Creamsicle clones.

The Royal Nepal Kush clones I grew at the same time. The RNKs reached 8'. They resisted LST so I let them grow naturally.

I started this year's girls indoors in late March. But they didn't take off till I purchased my 100w & 200w Cree CXB3590 fixtures. I didn't know what I was doing yet, but now, I can get the same results if I started in late April.

Right after I transferred the first six into the garden. Started with 12 in a 4x2 tent.

6/12 were female and I replaced the three males in the garden with these females once preflowers had shown sex.

My Orange Creamsicle were pollinated by my neighbors Chocolate Diesels that had hermed from light leaks. His garage grow room exhaust was blowing directly at my girls. Wasn't a big deal, only produced 8+ seeds but was worth it because I got this beauty out of the deal. Still have 4 beans. 3/4 of the first beans went male because I didn't know what I was doing. I'll start the a couple at a time in an indoor this winter and breed self's with any that sex female. The buds this year were way tastier and potent with the Choc Diesel cross and I want to reproduce the genetics.I grew it without LST and got waaay better results.

Last year the three Orange Creamsicle produced 4lbs. This single plant produced 2.1lbs.

Starting early indoors gets real results. A few of my girls reached 13'. This one, a Banana Crack will likely give me 7lbs. I'll find out when I trim the flowers tomorrow or the next day. She reached 13' tall and was 10' wide. No LST, but when I removed most of the primary fan leaves for airflow in the tent she developed two branches into two more primary stalks (i dont think that pruning counts as LST). She isn't in her full 13' glory in this pic because a small thunder storm hit my garden with a micro downburst and flattened them all and I had to tie them back up again. If you do start early, make sure you have the appropriate support structures (large trellis) in place to keep them from dropping branches or breaking. I lost quite a few branches to weight even before the storm hit.

It's definitely worth it to start early. Just make sure your soil temps are better than 50F and your daylight hours are long enough not to trigger an early bloom.

Happy growing.
