Haha im just another guy man no green knight and I also make my share of mistakes. Appreciate the compliment my friendthanks so much mate, you're right, yesterday I left my kids vaporiser ON after lights where out, checked the hygrometer which was just saying HH, which means I clocked it, and my prize is, unhappy plants. thanks again aqua, when I received your like, im sitting here going, now respond, now respond, HE RESPONDED!! hahaha change your name from aqua man to THE GREEN KNIGHT!
humble too!! honestly though, I noticed the issue, did some googling, wasn't sure, you rode in on your noble steed and sorted it out first comment.Haha im just another guy man no green knight and I also make my share of mistakes. Appreciate the compliment my friend
This and aquaponics intrigues me so damn much. I like the idea of constant flow for a million different reasons. Late to the party but here now!hey mate, hahaha yeah it's not a common method but growing some traction from what I see. I topped a couple probably earlier than I should/liked. Two of them didn't have their fifth nodes yet and they're the ones recovering slowest, otherwise, yeah I like to chop them soon after the fifth has shown up, now I'm just waiting to have enough length to start tying them down, I like to get to that as early as possible too while they're nice and flexible.
Yeah that's home now until harvest.
Its my first time so I'm doing the crash course into indoor hydroponics/NFT, I've done ample amounts of previous research but as always nothing prepares you for reality, fingers crossed.
Damn man. This community is so legit. Helluva an offer. Hope it stands for anyoneYeah, I have bought from them. If you need something they only sell long you can ship it to my dock and I'll cut it to size and send it on to you. I'm not too far from them. I got a bunch of 10' stuff delivered to make a microgreens auto feed system.
thanks aqua, ive raised the light and lowered one of the fans so the leaves get more flow.Make aure the leaves are getting airflow and if tou see an issue always resuce the light intensity until they recover
No need to flush. Plants like stability and that includes salinity. Try to limit extreme changes if you can. A flush is only ever needed in soil.thanks aqua, ive raised the light and lowered one of the fans so the leaves get more flow.
any chance it could be a deficiency? Only other change of late is I gave the system a fresh water flush on Thursday for a few hours, also top flushed all the plants with 1L of water each. I matched PH and temp for fresh water flush, but really this has happened a day or so after raising light intensity, its only meant to be about a 20W difference from 600 to super lumens isn't it?
Thank in advance mate as always!!
ok mate thanks, good to know, I've noticed I get the most growth when I'm at work for my few days, my own worst enemy sometimes, who ever thought being too proactive will work against youNo need to flush. Plants like stability and that includes salinity. Try to limit extreme changes if you can. A flush is only ever needed in soil.
Too feeding once a week will clear the hydroton and that all you nead to do
Some info on VPD for ya and how to do it properly.more questions!?
@Aqua Man, so you've mentioned transpiration a few times, well this morning the penny dropped and I actually just finished up having a light read on the topic. holy shit dude, very important stuff!!
Yesterday afternoon I decided I'm no longer going to blindly dose my reservoir with fresh water using my EC as my guide, I decided I want to know how much water Im losing as I had a feeling I'm losing allot, with my EC generally/always climbing with my PH. Sometimes EC goes down while ph goes up, usually on the cooler days.
So anyway, I made I little ruler out of my tie downs that just touched the surface of the reservoir solution, I checked it after about 3 hours and I couldn't believe it but I was already loosing water. This morning I've had to add 1.5L of water to get back to the level I was at less than 24hrs ago. might be standard info for others but blew my socks off!!!
The article I read said that all these things ie: transpiration / evaporation losses can be calculated using environmental factors to fill in the equations.
I guess while I have my ruler in there I'll work it out myself over time, just wondering if there is a thread on this here already?
also whatever input anyone has is also welcome.
tent temps are 24C lights on - 18-20C lights off
humidity 38% lights on - 50-60% lights off
reservoir temp - 19-21C
Happy growing
perfect, very helpful indeedSome info on VPD for ya and how to do it properly.
VPD (vapor pressure deficit)
Ok i was gonna sit down and write out a whole article but i have been lazy so instead instead I'm going to copy paste because im lazy. This is not my work so let start. You may find this very long but its worth the read. Some may want to skip ahead. I have added here and there to what i feel is...www.thcfarmer.com
Thanks for the advice hippi, great to see another NFT grower.Hey ive been growing in nft now about 8 years saw you got root rot problem. I recommend some good beneficial bacteria and enzymes product like mammoth p, cannazym, great white shark they battle in roots very good way against bad things, dont know what your nutrient line including. Temperature is key too with root problems. I only wash nft systems after round sometimes water sometimes some mild cleaning product and never had any root issues. Good luck with next grow!
sorry another one if you don't mind, Since they need to have quite a developed root system before going in what is your technique for raising seedlings before adding them to the main setup? I made it happen with the first grow but I don't feel its a fool proof method. Once the roots are exposed out of the rock wool things can get dicey.Hey ive been growing in nft now about 8 years saw you got root rot problem. from what I understand H&G nutrients are good, there is potential for a nutrient swap in the future as I have been having some difficulty sourcing H&G products and have heard good things regarding canna, if its more readily available I might have a go. So you only use 4 nutrient products from veg to harvest?Nutrient line seems good what i looked websites i think their roots excelurator and multi zyme would be good to prevent rot but 18c-24c is optimal water temperature and high temperature leads easily to root rot. Yeah and always go lower nutrients first its more easy to add more if needed. Ive been using these nft https://nutriculture.co.uk/products/gro-tank-nft system 4 different size (now i got 2x smallest 20l), fits my style well because only 20cm height. Btw i use Canna aqua vega, flores and cannazym higly recommend them if you want change sometime.
I germinate seeds glass of water takes about 2-7 days they have good tail then i put them 4x4cm rockwool. They hanging there in candybox usually with little bit tap water bottom of box about 1-2 weeks when i see little bit roots i transplant them to 7.5x7.5cm rockwools. They hanging there about 1-3 weeks (same candybox) sometimes i add little bit veg nutrient when transplanted into nft system. Usually i start germinating when im close to harvest so after drying and cleaning tent they have good roots already and start growing pretty fast after transplant in nft and giving nutrients. And i keep them only under 9w normal led all that time.
Hope you can understand my bad english. You can go growdiaries site and search hippyhemulen there is some recent grows if they can help little bit.
Yeah only 4 products atm, tested with only vega and flores and nothing special change cant see with eyes, zym seems help roots pretty good. Vega till about 2-3 week after light flip and then flores to end, cannazym full cycle when i put them in nft and pk 13/14 only one time when buds are starting growing size so about between 4-5 week in flower. I tried with whole Canna line too but zym was most worth to buy what i experienced, full line gonna cost pretty much. Only negative is what found about canna is i could want little bit less nitrogen in flower nutes. My tap water ec is about 0.3 and 8.5ph and i think you live in usa so there could be different tap water and it could make some difference. Ph down is good to have too if needed some nute lines dont need that, canna keep pretty stable ph 6. Ph and EC meter is good to have too but after you used same nute line long time you dont need them that much anymore, good to have if problem coming. I dont own any ec meter anymore after i broken one but i should buy one and ph i check about 3-5 per round but its almost always 6-6.5.from what I understand H&G nutrients are good, there is potential for a nutrient swap in the future as I have been having some difficulty sourcing H&G products and have heard good things regarding canna, if its more readily available I might have a go. cool setups man!! I stopped past your grow diaries, impressive stuff! Seems simple but effective and no baskets or clay balls, HA, nice!!
thanks for the germination guide, it all helps.
