Move/transplant outdoor to indoor

Hi all. I have a single Afghan big bud plant that is doing extremely well (pic attached) and has just started entering the flowering phase. Outdoor grow. But I have a neighbor who I think is “concerned” about the plant growing back there so I want to take no chances and move it indoors (truly a shame I know!) and under an LED (red spectrum?) light for its duration of flowering which should be approximately another 4 to 5 weeks. So if I’m transplanting a very established and healthy 4 1/2 foot tall plant from outdoors to indoors, I’m thinking I need a very large pot to make sure I get the entire root ball and have room for soil etc. inside the pot. Any tips? Thanks!

This will not end well, unfortunately. a plant that size has a very large root base and it wont trasnsplant well at all. Its also huge. if moved in doors that plant will take much longer then that to flower, expect 7-8 weeks maybe more. Then you have to think about bugs, all outdoor plants have some bugs on them and they will come inside with the plant. You would need a pretty large tent and light to really flower this plant. If you want to grow indoors its probably best to start new seeds inside and go from there

Yeah I wouldn’t think so either. You’re just confirming my suspicions, which I appreciate. I’m paranoid I guess and here in MO rec grow is legal (18 plants 6/6/6) but only in enclosed, locked spaces and not in open space / backyard (hate that). Really just doing this ONE PLANT grow as a hobby / for fun since we love to garden. So maybe worst paranoia comes true and cops come and cite me small fine (or I just deny it’s mine since it’s behind back fence in overgrown area nobody usually bothers with). Hmmmm… sure would love to see how she flowers though. Damned paranoia.

I have a similar problem. I brought one cloth potted plant indoors to flip and flower. Just harvested this evening after 9 weeks. When I brought it in, it had inch worms, a couple of thrips, a stink bug, gnats, and a few unidentified flyers and hoppers. No serious damage. My 300w led was no substitute for summer sunlight, but the nutrients kept it happy. I could go on and on about this first successful grow. The problem is her two sisters who kept growing outside. Now too big to bring in to my 3x3 tent. The one is a 6 ft tree, still vegging. the other is a 4 ft wide LST experiment with way too many tops. Summer days are long here and the cold is coming fast. outdoors is legal, but it is a race for the finish line.

Nice that you have outdoor legal. Most states including mine don’t. Wonder what the fine/penalty might be for ONE plant if a neighbor were to snitch. Or I’d just play dumb like “Huh? there’s a pot plant back there?? how can you prove I nurtured it / it’s mine?” Ha

I’ve left it back there. Continuing to feed higher P/K and buds really starting to form. Screw the paranoia. Go baby go.

Looking closer at it, I think it is finally starting to flower. I decided I will bring it indoors and I spent an hour trimming everything but the canopy. Not sure if I over did it? Or maybe didn't remove enough?
