so I have uc 4xl systems (8 gallon) that I made. I use 1 air stone per bucket and 2 pumps per system,

Pumps - http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B004L...air+pump+1&dpPl=1&dpID=413gmvSY7lL&ref=plSrch

Air stones- http://www.greenerhydroponics.com/EcoPlus-Medium-Round-Air-Stone-_p_77857.html

I'm thinking about adding an extra airstone in each bucket (same amount of air pumps) just so more of the bucket is getting air... is this a good idea and do you think those pumps are paired well with the system? Been running them that way for a while just want to make sure it's optimal

Thanks guys!

The more air the better! An extra stone will help but won't actually get more air, just more possibly smaller bubbles. Smaller bubbles aerate the water better. From what I've been told. I just use a a aquarium pump rated for 30 gallon tank, with 3 airstones. I'm only running one bucket right now till my two clones are ready.

I get it won't add more air but maybe better aeration.... how many airstones does everyone else run in each bucket?

Our first system has one air stone in each bucket and the new system has the manifolds. I'm wondering how an air stone inside the manifold might work.

I run an under current inline 5xl (13 gallon) with two air stones in each module with a Ap-60. It works good, but I am looking to jump up to the AP-100.

I'm running a ap 100 for a ten site 13 gallon and running an 80 on the epicenter and the 80 also connects to my 105 gallon reservoir with one large air stone in each bucket

With the 2 pumps in each uc 4xl (4, 8 gallon sites, 30 gal system)

I'm running 76 lpm(38lpmx2) for 30 gallons of water. I am going to change it soon but I don't have any aeration going to the 13 gallon topoff tanks. As suggested I'm going to add a small pump just to keep things moving in those.

I also just have each pump going to 2 buckets, so there are no air stones in the epicenter... I figure the return pump water aerates/agitates the epicenter enough...?

So what are your thoughts, is that the right amount of air, not enough, too much? Should I be running even lower ppm's on the super aerated feed chat that cultured solutions recomends? I typically get up around 750 ppm at peak (500 scale), but am not seeing the size I want out of the buds.

Cultured solutions considers supercharged 1.5lpm per gallon... at that rate it's only recommended to run 45 lpm to a 30 gallon system, when my pumps are rated at 76 per 30 gallons. And on the supercharged chart they top out ppm at 350 ppm max in peak flowing! So by that I'd be over double the recommended ppm with my pumps while also aerating the systems more than 45lpm...

Im lit and rambling but trying to make sense of this. Uc 4xl ships with 40 lpm air pump but manufacture specs say I'm running 76 lpm (38x2)

Should I cut one out?

I should just buy the pump they use, rub it on one system and see if I notice a difference, duh ha

Don't be a sheep . been using the same air pumps that came.with the system for two years now still hitting 11 lbs on 4 1k with the double barrel 16 8gal. I'm actually looking to decrease my yield.

Focus on more.important shit like a correct nutrient profile or ideal VPD .

Don't need 11 lbs and things get crowded. Looking to scrog, lower veg time from 14 days to 7-10 and get more around 8 lbs of just pure grade A tops

I wouldn't say that makes me a sheep because I'm trying to figure out more about my air situation. And like current culture recomends more air=less nutes, so that's part of figuring out the ideal nutrient profile...

Please fill me in on your nutrient profile. Ppm's and what nutes you use. I'm looking to switch nutes on one system as a test to see if I can do better. Also how tall are most of your plants at max? Using regarding 1000w or de?

Your right on man. Cut that pump out or drop your nutes 50% I've tested current cultures method on air lpm/g and they are absolutely on the right track(except I use way less nutes than they suggest at 1.5lpm/g, topping out veg at 0.2-0.3 ec and bloom at 0.3-0.5). Tested it on big and small hydro systems, on numerous different vegetables and herbs, and in dwc they are pretty spot on. However, which route your choose in the end though it makes no diffference in product imo. You can run little air or a ton of air, little nutes or a ton of nutes, and will get the same product if your air situation is set correctly as they suggest. I prefer to run as much air as possible while maximizing results, cause if you can save on the crazy prices of nutes, that's a nice leg up on the competition.

Most important of all make sure those plants are eating! If your ec is not dropping everyday from the plant eating food than that's your first hint something is off. If so, drop the nutes in half and try from there. I've suggested this to a couple of hydro growers at the hydro shop I work at and they have been really happy with their new results. Your buds aren't going to build into what you expect until they start eating. Follow the cc website and get your air situation on track, and you'll start seeing the things you expect from a uc.

Damn, it's going to pain me to do this but I'm going to start the next new run on the supercharged chart, see how the results go.

It's just hard as a long time soil grower to use such low ppm. I'm finally adjusted to their recommendations and now cutting those numbers in half will make me feel like I'm starving them... but that's one of the many reasons I love hydro, they will quickly tell you what they want if they aren't getting it

I know what ya mean but u can always add a lil if the plants need it. Way easier than fixing too much nutes
