Today was a sad day, we lost our best friend. His name was "Gunner" and he was 10 years old. He had a grand seizure last night, which paralyzed him, and caused major brain damage. The vet said there was nothing they could do for him. So we sadly put him to sleep where he will have no more pain. Here is a picture of my best friend. I will miss him dearly, still look for him, then remember.

I'm very sorry to hear that. He's in a better place. I had to put mine down 6 months ago and he was with me 10years. He had had disease and I had to end his suffering. So we put him to sleep. Again sorry 4 your loss.
Respect

It's a heart breaker, my Daisy Mae (Beagle) was like my kid. I would tell her "Lets Go ..... Get in the Big Bed and she would race down the hall and jump right into the bed. Miss her but my other two take up the slack.
Sorry for the loss and hopefully you will find another to fill part of that hole in your hearts.

That's why I don't have another. Had a lab also she's was irreplaceable. It's hard but no more suffering Animals are the most wonderful thing to be blessed with. A true friend the biggest hearts on earth. M

Sorry man. Dogs are the best friend you could ever have. I fuckin hate losing em. It'll get better obviously. When I lost mine I read "the rainbow bridge poem", chokes me up just thinkin about it. Take care,

Sorry for your loss :( I had to put a sleep my 14 year old lab in june last year. I still get tears in my eyes looking at his photo. But we got us young joy to keep the pain away. We've adopted a Saluki X from kennels in Dubai.

Thank you everyone for the kind words. Being so fresh, it's hard not to call his name to go outside with you or look for him in his bed. But it will get easier. He is our 3rd lab and was loved by many. We will be taking a break for awhile, my son sends his 2 dogs to our house to watch them. So no loss of dogs to be around. Sorry for all who have lost a best friend recently or in the past. There is just nothing like a dog to walk with in the gardens or running thru the grass chasing who knows what, lol But he is happy now, rest his sole.

Thanks everyone

Sorry for the loss of Gunner. Thats the worst part of having dogs They don't live long enough. Thats one of the hardest decisions we have to make but it sounds like you made the right one. He is at peace.
Our Weimaraner is 14 1/2 I dread the day. Our first one had to be put down @ 12 bad hips. Don't think we will get another. The loss is so damn hard.

Sorry man, it tears your heart out losing your best budz. I'm kinda of a loner guy and always have a German Shepherd beside me...my best friend. I believe pets are our Guardian Angels. They have mastered unconditional love, and if we are aware they appear when needed most. But they also have to leave us (in the physical realm) but remain forever in the spiritual planes. It's never easy...and for me acquiring another dog makes the misery and sadness a bit softer. I have more respect and love for animals than I do for most of the human species. I wish it were different but "it is what it is." Many Blessings your way, mourn and grieve then when you are ready, move on. No dog or person who leaves us wants to see us unhappy. "Yeah, I know, it's easy to say but hard to do. I know. Good luck, man. RIP to Gunner.

There is an ancient Native American story called Rainbow Bridge. It's pretty cool.

So sorry for your loss. Be strong for everybody in your family, and try to remove the sadness with memories of happiness. Someone once told me this, "Humans can have many dogs, but most dogs only have one human to love." Give that dog all your love, treat it with respect, and the rest is in God's hands. I love God, and if I had one complaint, it would be our pets don't live long enough. Rest in peace Gunner, you left the world a better place than you came into it.

Very sorry for your loss. When I had to put down my shepherd 16 years ago I thought I was done until my children showed up with 2 abandoned pups their mother said they couldn't keep.
It's been over 15 years now and they are still with me.I dread the day when I will eventually lose my best friends but will never regret the love and companionship they have given me all these years.
