This, too early to chop now, let them ripen. The buds will get bigger and more potent these next couple weeks..

Thanks! I'm inclined to push another week or two, they are a few days shy of breeder harvest recommendation. And i think any amber trichomes are mostly on sugar leaves. The gnats were making me wonder about early harvest though. I'll hold out!

Any tips on mitigating the gnats, other that an inch or so of perlite and yellow sticky strips? I thought I might be too late for Neem oil in the soil, or whatever other thing is recommended for their larvae.

Thanks again y'all!

Neem oil when used correctly is also a good fungus gnat solution if you have the organically produced real deal. I wouldn't hesitate to spray it on top of the soil even though you can spray it on the flowers and wash the buds later. I covered all my airpots with cloth so they couldn't lay more eggs. As you gain control of the problem if you're not vigilant they'll come back. Clove Oil and peppermint oil spray and if you can get magnolia flowers buy them and bring them in -- gnats hate them.

Hello everyone, and thanks for your comments. Pics below, and updated trichome pics. I see some foxtailing?

Please leave your thoughts on the trich pics. :)

Whew! So i feel like I'm close to harvest. How close is a question, but I'm not asking for weeks or days, just what you see in the trichs. Some amber (maybe mostly sugar leaves?), fair amount milky, some droopy heads?

Anyway, home stretch for sure. Thank you all for any comments or thoughts.

Cloudy with a chance of meatballs. Saw 5% amber and mostly milk. If you're wanting couch lock you're waiting for more amber for sure, if not could be in the next week. Don't forget to slot in 24 hours of complete darkness on your last day prior to chop

Ah shit, it's done! Chop happened last night and I'm stoked to be done with the growing part. Things went more smoothly than i had any right to expect. I made them cannabalize themselves a little due to over-lighting them leading to nutrient lockout (presumably). That and fungus gnats were my only two real problems.

Pics of harvest are below, I'm Jazzed!

Currently drying in the tent at about 70* and 60-65% humidity, fan leaves on. Exhaust fan on, and similarly for a few small fans, not directed at the plants but circulating air in the tent. Humidifier set to max, outside the tent, blowing towards a slightly open vent on the tent door. (An attempt to control lung room humidity, with a little extra humidity going into tent.)

Anyone's thoughts on my drying process are welcome. A million different preferences, as with all aspects of this grow so far. :)

Yay! Thanks all for your input and thoughts throughout the process!

And this damn growing project isn't done yet. Outdoor plants have thrips (no IPM strategy yet) and my two chosen clones are in 3gal fabric pots, topped and started LST yesterday. Honestly, great fun but these shits are needy! :)

How about spray the outdoor plants liberally with a solution of Bonner's peppermint soap then follow up with glycerine/ ProCrop 1/Neem Oil/ Clove Oil. All or some of these can be used to fight the dreaded thrips. If you played a round of golf it would be 5 hours, right? This is also a sport Bat and you did great w/that grow, respect.

Thank you sir. I do have some Canncontrol which i will spray, hopefully tonight (oleic acid and a couple of oils, i don't remember which). So you might recommend a soap spray first? I'll look into it all of course. Thanks again!

The soap spray is to knock the bugs off the plants by making it harder for them to hold on to your plant

agreed, if you want energy and euphoric you can chop at 100% milky or 90-10, you want something to sit your ass down, wait until 60% amber, each to their own. I want to go to sleep.....

Hello everyone! Thanks for following and chiming in! Harvest happened. They dried for 7-8 days at 55-60% RH and ~70*. Best dry environment i could do. Had one too many fans running for the first few days of dry, so they finished earlier than the 10ish days I was shooting for.

First plant trimmed was a Lavender, and she yielded 64grams of A and B bud. Heaviest was 4 grams. Will post total yield when done trimming the other three hopefully tonight.

Edit: smells and smokes well enough. I am super happy and definitely surprised at the quality for my first try. That said, i am hoping a boveda 62 and some jar time will bring it to perfection. They are sitting in the jar with a boveda 62 and the mini hygrometer is reading 53%rh? Will that go up, or maybe too late? Happy either way!!

Totals for harvest on my Overly Ambitious First Grow (indoor portion):

GDP 2: 39g A bud, 28g B bud, 14g larf, 22g trim

GDP 3: 28g A bud, 33g B bud, 4g larf, 10g trim

Lavender 1: 34g A bud, 32g B bud, 7g larf, 19g trim

Lavender 3: 32g A bud, 36g B bud, 22g larf, 23g trim

Total: 133g A bud, 129g B bud, 47g larf, 73g trim

So that comes to about 1g/watt, if i only count A and B buds, and assuming i use the 300w quoted on the mars hydro website minus some percentage as a result of running somewhere around 70-90% all grow.

Everyone's help and support has been much appreciated! Thanks all!

Edit: so is the am I right that the boveda 62 will bring the jar humidity back up a bit? Or will it just prevent further drying out? I do think I dried too quickly, but only by a bit. Thanks again!

So! The outdoor portion of my overly ambitious first grow continues apace. Finally have tiny buds showing up. Stack and swell! The indoor clones are likewise progressing, though I suspect a nutrient issue - hope I'm not light stressing them! :)

Fruit flies persist, lightly. I knock them back, they return. Pics below.

I would love thoughts on the indoor leaf discoloration. Doesn't quite looked the same as my last round's leaf discoloration from light stress.

GREAT hacienda set up for all of your diverse plants, I think that is really great. How about planting some kind of companion plant like bean sprouts in your indoor grow also basil to help keep away bugs. I'm not a scientist but didn't like how one of my plants was yellowing through the whole grow which didn't matter to the bud quality at the end so for this grow I bought liquid nitrogen and added to the water (and pee) during all of veg....the plants responded by being super green and healthy. I'm curious what you do with all the trim at grow's end? What else is new? I think Labor Day weekend most farmers are away from their keyboards....and trying to stay cool. Have a good one
