Need general advice for rdwc

Hey everyone

Couple of questions

First I'll list my equipment

Equipment:

Uv Sterilizer 36w

Alien 4pot 36L Silver Pro rdwc system

Helia HC-250a

Aqua one power head 105

Pond one 8000 o2plus

Rio hyperflow 6hf

Nutrients I'm running:
Floramax veg1
Floramax rootxs
Floramax Organabud
Floramax flowering Enhancer
Floramax system maintenance
Current culture uc roots

Okay so now I've listed my equipment and nutrients I'll jump into it.

Having problems with keeping roots pearly white. Have had to UP UC roots dosage to compact brownness.

Uv Sterilizer is currently down and out and I'll have a replacement soon so thinking that could be a cause.

I'm completely new to rdwc and this is my second grow ever. Ive gone from soil/autoflowers to Rdwc/photos so its definitely a big change up for me with everything

Have gone from ISN>GP3>Floramax ( more mineral based nutrients) as this system is super finicky with organic nutrients etc and i was wanting to run a sterilie environment.

Any information would help on trying to keep roots white

I use a 3x3m room, not a tent

Yeah this has nothing to do with air flow. I definitely won't be proping up my nets for light to flow inside the pots, good way to get more problems while I'm dealing with one

I'm running a pond one 8000 02plus, airflow is a okay.

Do you not use the Camo bucket with your system?

Much water does the 4 buckets nd the head bucket hold?

Mad I’ve got the black series nd I swear I’m only like 125L to fill I set my float valve a wee bit lower so around 110 fills it,

I ran into problems on my last run but I think I’ve sorted everything now, do u run sterile or benis?

Yeah this 36L per pot, 20L head. Not sure if you can get the black in 36L per pot.

Trying to run Sterile, e.g UC roots and Floramax system maintenance ( can't get clearline in Aus

Did manage to find a clayball in the Chiller early morning. Hoping it was the fact it wasn't keeping it cold enough.

Applenaut, 3 weeks in atm. First brownish on roots, usually pearly white.

currently my UV Sterilizer is out of action (36w ) and waiting on a replacement so this could be also an issue

As I had to use 800Ml of UC roots to clear tank, drop and replace 50L to 0.9, doing hydrogen Peroxide dunk to clear off but seems to have contained the issue for now

Is this brown algae,

My temps are around 18/19c

I know that brown algae prefers cooler inviroments nd high silicone levels

I use advanced nutes

Last run I ran into root rot as I didn’t have a chiller nd it was summer here

I cleaned the system a good few times with pressure washer nd peroxide

But this showed up bad week one of new res

Done another flush nd peroxide bath nd only a wee bit showed up this week

I’m thinking dropping my silicone levels nd looking for changes but honestly no clue a second opinion would be great

Could either be brown slime, hmmm

I havent added in any silica other then base nutrients from floramax, everything is already in base unless i see an issue

I did have whatever you have but I completely had to cut out anything to do with proper organics

Like Green planet liquid weight or ocean magic etc as the UV Sterilizer and UC roots will kill it almost instantly

( i originally had to do 2 peroxide flush on change of nutrients as originally I had worse Root problems on the first attempt then this and I had all equipment running, was just the fact that the organics were getting killed off )

But it did fix whatever problem you were having there by cutting out organics and running more mineral based

So maybe it’s my root benis nd fungle shit,

I patched up the lids on my buckets with black tape aswell the wee corner pockets are great at forming algae

I know if it’s brown slime if I cut the silicone for 1 week nd wipe nd drain it all away it should have the grounds to breed

My roots are white for the most part

A couple look creamy yellowish off the nute dyes but new growth white

It’s just the brown stuff on the walls untill agitated then float about

I took some into a jug nd added peroxide nd it all settled at the bottom

I'd definitely say its stemming down to bevause you run organic with bennies then dude

Like I said I don't have that problem after doing what ive said.

It could be the type of bennies you're using as well?

I havent looked to much into it as I'm trying to run a completely Sterile system

Hydroguard is for a bennie system not a Sterilize system as far as I know
